From what I hear in this video, strangely, uv5r seems to be the best in terms of reception. And I think the transmission is no worse than Yaisu. Am I the only one who sounds like that?? ( 2'nd 6mile FT4X T6:04 R6:33 UV5 T R6:44 R6:57 FR60 T7:52 R8:04) (1'st ?? mile FT4X 1:59 UV5R T15:58 R2:16 T2:35 3:42 UV5 T2:56 R3:10 3:39 FR60 4:06 )

I have the uv5r and a Yaesu FT65, I've had the Baofeng for a while, the Ft65 a few months, when I did a comparison with my friend on 2m both radios performed equally well though my friend thought the audio was much better on the Yaesu, pretty much as you found. Kinda suggests that the the only shortcoming of the Baofeng is a poorer quality mic.

Good benchmark/ Maybe it would be more accurate is the UV-5R and the FT-4X had shared the same antenna, which is SMA female. I'm happy with my FT4-XE, looking towards a second set like FT- 65 while returning my Blaspheming UV-5R to partly fund it. At the end of the day, the best device in this upload was the camera! 🎥 Really good.

In my Country Argentina Buenos Aires, all baofengs are the same problem.... complete deaf in VHF . Because a lot of broadcastings FM. Performance in this band is lower than 30% in comparison with other Handhelds like ICOM o Yaesu (i have Yaesu 411 & ICOM ic02at, both outperform Baofeng in VHF). But in UHF Baofeng works very very well!!! not perfect.... but a decent 70% in comparison with others UHF first level brand equipments. Sadly Baofeng not fix this problem with better filters.... if they do that , i think nobody buy other branded models. Regards from Argentina LU1DAA!

I find this problem too in the Philippines. VHF on baofengs is really weak af, but UHF is decent
@JohnUsp2 жыл бұрын
Interesting, please, could you explain better why the Baofeng VHF is weak? I guess the VHF is 5W power (some models 8W), so, with this power, why won't work there? Good brand radios are also 5W, what's the difference?
@gmallada2 жыл бұрын
@@JohnUsp the problem not is in Transmission. Only in reception Baofeng are weaks, because not have good filters from FM commercials 88-108 FM. The power of 5W or 8W is perfect, but in reception are poor results in big cities. On rural zones works much better.

I bet if you never mentioned you were on a Baofeng he would have said no different about the audio,yaesu are not all that great for what you pay for them anyway all made in China ,cheap to produce more profit.

Have you tried both the UV-5R and the Yaesu FT-4X? I own both and can say with certainty that as the guy said at 3:10, there is a definite difference in quality. As he also says, the Baofeng's transmission is fully readable but there is a difference. Personally, I would recommend the UV-5R for most people because you really get a great product for that price. I believe it makes more sense for a person to get 3-4 Baofengs first, and then perhaps 1 or more Yaesu FT-4X radios to ensure that their radio fleet has one especially clear transceiver. Also the FT-4X is now made in Japan. That's the first thing I checked when I received mine and I was very relieved, although I will admit that made in China doesn't necessarily imply poor quality. There's plenty of products made in China that are of high quality.
