Wow, my IC753 got the same problem since it has been in storage for around 16 years now since my father inlaw passed away. It was working before when he was still around. I'm gonna try and do what you did sir. Who knows, it might just come alive. All the best.

The 747 FT also has a backup battery?
@AERVBlog3 жыл бұрын
Correction, I looked it up and the 747 does have backup battery on the display board. According to the schematic it looks like it could cause pretty close to the same problems.

The Yaesu FT-747 uses a backup battery, however, it requires desoldering & isn't as easily replaceable as the variant in the FT-840/890.

Thanks so much for taking the time for this - you saved me money. I was planning to take mine in for diags, and low and behold - this was my exact problem! Much obliged, and 73! John KE5FKP

I have an FT-890 which is my daily driver. The CR-2032 is dead I will be replacing that. But I have had and used this radio for several years and I think it could use a tune up. What are you bench rates.

These dumb backup batteries goof a lot of things up and they shouldn't! I have 2 IFR's, one is a communications monitor, that needs to be replaced and the other is a spectrum analyzer that I believe is also its problems, I know the battery is dead, but hadn't replaced it as it was some goofy number that I had to order....so soon, I will replace. Not sure why things are dependent on the battery to function completely. Great tip! ~Jack, VEG

You would think a backup battery would not affect the rest of the radio just because it is dead. Let it go back to a set condition, OK, but not kill the radio all together.
