Karl reminds of some children I taught in my career. They were low-achievers and not clever in the recognised sense at all, but their thought processes were fascinating. If you gave them word association tests the answers would be on the face of it stupid, but sometime later you would realise there was crazy kind of logic after all. Give Karl a job at Oxford university in the philosophy or science faculties and he would be lost but he would stimulate new pathways of thought in the fellows. They could give him an honorary PhD in Knockin’ Abou’ An’ Tha’!

You know...sometimes Karls‘ thoughts are not too far away from real academic debates. When he poses the question „Do you control your brain or does your brain control you?“ for example. Replace the word „brain“ by „subconscious“ and you have a very valid question - also linked to Sigmund Freud.

When you are a reasonable person you realise the 3 of them all played a part in the greatest of the show. Karl without Ricky and Steve's input would have been tedious and unlistenable. How is he a sage? All he did was elaborate on stuff he'd read on sites like ananova. Yes he looks at things from a different angle than most but he's not a sage. Most of the stuff he said was utter nonsense designed to either wind Ricky up or get a laugh. He absolutely knew what he was doing.

Gervais is a perfect example of the Dunning Kruger effect, which is why he is so certain that reality stops at the border of the measurable, and Karl has a restless curiosity and a good enough power of thought that he often hits on something really interesting that he doesn't have the vocabulary to express clearly, and then Gervais shuts him down. I didn't like Ricky Gervais until Karl Pilkington. I thought Ricky was just a so so comedian. Once I started to get the whole Karl thing I was just so impressed that I forever more will love Steven Merchant, Karl Pilkington and Ricky Gervais..... 🥰

I’m fairly certain a bungle is a gaff or error, and thus a bungler is one who commits such. Karl likely meant bundled but misspoke.
