wow! lot of jacks in panama. what happened to the last big jack you caught? what knot you use to your leader and how many lbs of line and leader do you have? thanks man :)
@YakFishField7 жыл бұрын
It swallowed the jig too deep, got hooked in the gut, and it was a longer fight. I wanted to go grab him and revive him once I realized he wasn't going down, but the rooster hit and I couldn't get over there. By the time I landed the rooster I couldn't find him, not sure if he went down, got eaten by a shark or just drifted too far to find him. Always sad when a fish dies on accident, but it happens now and then. I Was using 50# fluoro leader tied to 40# braid tied with a modified albright knot. Double up the braid using a bimini twist or spider hitch first.
@MarkAnthonyBautista7 жыл бұрын
yeah! accident happens all the time, nice rooster fish though. hehehe! for almost 4 months fishing (port and small boat fishing) haven't try to land a big fish hahah! i tried jigging two weeks ago i hooked one using 150g lure (it's kinda big i guess) but unfortunately the leader snaps to my main line after 3 minutes of fighting haha! lesson learned, perfect knot is important when jigging. hopefully i can get one :)

Don't you worry about lightning strikes when you are on open water? Is there something you can do to mitigate the risk?
@YakFishField7 жыл бұрын
Sure I worry about it. Being in a plastic kayak helps lower the already astronomical odds. You should be more concerned about getting T-boned headed to work than struck by lightning. I don't spend my energy worrying about those 1 in a million things... too many real concerns to worry about in this world!
@TheBowserJournal7 жыл бұрын
Good points to ponder. I actually worry more about other boaters not seeing me when I am on the water.

Great vid, happy you got that rooster finally, but what about that jack you just sorta abandoned.... you never showed if you actually took care of that fish, and it looked pretty not good when it was floating away.
@YakFishField7 жыл бұрын
+Fumbling Through because there was nothing to show. After I released the rooster I spent 20 minutes looking for it but never found it. Not sure if it went down or a shark got it or what. Unfortunate, but it happens. Anyone that fishes semi-regularly gut-hooks a fish now and then. Hopefully he swam off. If not, obviously they aren't endangered out there, and a shark got an easy meal. Circle of life!
