I have an 07 apex gt, if you add the little wheels in the front of the skid you can eliminate that "hole" issue on your hifax.

I forgot to mention that I am a Paraplegic trying to keep this thing under control or sell it and buy a newer Viper, or ZR Cat. I just want it not to dart and take bumps a bit better.

Hello, I'm an old dog who recently retired and used to love running sleds back in the '80s and '90s. I have a cottage up in northern Ontario, but live near Knoxville, TN. I bought a brand new 2016 Vector XTX 1.75 back in 2017; it has the Genisis 1049. Due to poor snow timing, I still have less than 5 miles on the sled. I took it up north and ran into 3+ feet of snow with 5' drifts. The sled weighs 667 lbs and it sank like a stone up there and I had to wait till the following May to go pick it up - buried in a huge drift in my front yard up there. My question is, now that Yami is getting out of the sled business, what parts would you stock up on if you were me and intended to keep the sled? I don't have any miles on it to get a history on what typically goes on the Vectors, but guessing since you are an Apex guy, you might be able to give some advice please? I'm planning on getting an extra pair or two of heat exchangers and the exhaust donuts - not sure what brand is better/ worse? Your thoughts??

For donuts get copper ones. They last longer. I would also get a set of head pipes because they tend to crack. At least on the apexes they do. Pick up a few air filters, oil filters and sway bar bushings. But honestly by 2016 they had fixed most of the dumb problems these sleds have..

@@Polarisxcr700 thanks... one more question... This sled sat for a few years before I brought it to camp and got it stuck. In that time the battery died - not sure where the Apex battery is, but the Vector has it buried in the very center of the sled and you have to take half the damn sled apart just to get to it!! I'm guessing guys must relocate the battery so you can actually get to it without major surgery - especially since it is the only way to start the thing? I thought about moving the battery to the rear trunk pocket but worried about voltage drop?

@@joesixpack7551 the battery should have jumper leads attached to it. They are located on the right side of the sled. Pull off the hood and you will see them just above the oil tank. That will let you keep it on a trickle charger or jump start it if need be. I wouldn't go through the trouble of relocating. To get to the battery you need to take off hood, then side panels, then headlight/gauge pod, then airbox. In that order. Battery is just under the airbox.

What year is this sled and how many miles on her? Where do you ride? I have a 2007 Yamaha Attak with a 136" track. I am working on getting her to handle better. It just has the plain jane spring over front shocks on it. Do you know if the Fox QS-3 will work on that sled? I am not a mechanic and have only owned sleds for the past 4 years and I am 55 now so I do not have a lot of experience with them and It sure sounds like you do. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. I did put 96 studs on the track this year and took the old worn-out carbide wear bars off and replaced them with Woody's 6" Ace runners. I think they made it steer a little better but they did not stop the darting. I just ordered some Woody's slim jim Doolys for it. Hopefully, it will handle better then. I do have a little play in the handlebars and a little in the left ski. Any remedies for that?

Try to get your hands on a pair of GYTR front shocks off an apex GT. Ski slop is probably from bad spindle bushings. Barn of Parts Sled Salvage, based out of PA, has all the parts you would need. Check their website out. Good luck with the build!

Get aggressive snowtrackers or at minimum woodys doolys. I havent tried the doolys but hear great things. My 06 Attak rides on rails with the aggressive snowtrackers. Only time it feels loose is when its above freezing and everything is soft and turned up. I ride up in the county so probably not far from you. Lmk if you need a riding buddy lol.

Try to swap for another dash. Check the connector where it plugs into the harness and make sure they aren't corroded.

Copper. OEM will just blow out again. Make sure you shave down the clamps also.
