I have an LL-TA. It's easily my best guitar, and I have a collection of 5 acoustics, Taylors, a Breedlove, another Yamaha. The guitar is amazing without any effects on, but the effects take it to the next level. Playing an acoustic guitar with a nice deep reverb without plugging it in is insane.. Throw a bit of chorus on and go Deff Leppard mode for extra fun :p

When I was growing up and wanting to play guitar you had basically 3 chooses Martin Gibson and Yamaha Taylor had just come out and fairly expensive I got the red label fg160 and never wanted for anything else 20 years later it was stolen and it broke my heart fast forward another 20 years and when I decided to play again I waited until I found another Yamaha I own Taylor Martin Gibson but I play Yamaha they have never been more than a few steps from my side

Fabulous review. Great to see such genuine enthusiasm for a musical instrument. Totally love this guitar too. Got myself a lefty version of the LL16 to build my craft off. Now if only I could play as well as you do… Thanks for the inspiration!

solid rosewood back and sides for the LL16 ARE, top is treated with ARE (A.R.E. technology was developed by focusing on this characteristic of aged wood. Applying A.R.E. treatment through a wood panel crystallizes the cellulose, improving its sound transmission) but solid rosewood back and sides with solid engelmann spruce top .. 5 ply mahogany rosewood neck with ebony fingerboard.. the best you can get IMHO and knowing Yamaha its the best selection and best maintained wood on the market, they really do the right thing here.. you have a top acoustic right there regardless of the name on it... they know what they are doing and its top workmanship, components, and materials .. bet that listen to it.. sheesh, it sure holds its own against $10,000 acoustics that's for sure,

@JRMoonTube2 жыл бұрын
@teladan5 - the strap button on the neck is a very simple add. I’m not handy but was able easily install one. Any guitar shop would be able to do it cheaply as well.
@teladan52 жыл бұрын
Thanks, John. I have an adapter the lets me attach the strap above the nut. Sometimes gets in the way of chord shapes on the first fret. I might look at that button!

@viking64762 жыл бұрын
It's a beautiful guitar but can't hold a candle to the FGX5 which is btw, made in the Hamamatsu factory in Japan. The Ll16 is made in China. I haven't heard anything like the FGX5 and the three way sound system called Atmosfeel is incredible. I've been waiting for one at sweetwater for a while now. Just mho.

I;ve owned many Yamahas and each one is well made and the best value for the money - period. If you want to bring out the best possible from this guitar - increased harmonics and projection for cheap - replace the plastic pins and saddle with Graph Tech Tusq. Pins need to be sanded to fit, and the saddle is the same as for a Martin - Tusq model 9110 comprensated. Drops right in and no sanding required unless you want a slightly lower action. I left mine alone and the increased break angle from the pins to saddle really brings out incredible tones from that massive top. The end result will be - if you listened to the stock guitar first, and being blindfolded, listened to the upgraded guitar - you would NOT BE ABLE TO recognize it by sound. It is a completely different guitar sonically and will hold it's own against any made on the market costing 2 to 3 times more.
@antonio.lovric Жыл бұрын
@quigley4440 how do you mean "pins need to be sanded to fit"? Could you please describe? Thanks in advance 😊 Did you use Graphtech TUSQ PQ-9110-00?
@quigley4440 Жыл бұрын
@@antonio.lovric I think that number is for the standard pins for Martin etc with the inlay - black. These pins have a 5 degree angle if memory serves, and Yamaha pin holes are 3 degrees. So the stock pin will only go down the hole about half way. The pin holes can be drilled out to match the 5 degree angle but must be done by competent person with the right tools. OR you can sand away that area where the pin is too wide from the mark when you test insert the pin. Don't force the pin, just a slight push till it stops and then give the pin a few twists to engrave the start point at that thickness. Use a small padded vise to hold the pin head and support the tapered end by hand. Use a good narrow file or thin sand paper cut to fit between the engraved mark and the collar located just below the pin head. Don't file away that collar as this is where the pin seats against the pin hole. Keep the angle of the file or sand paper to match the angle, but after a few sandings test fit that pin over and over as you go along to fit properly. Once finished the pin does NOT need to be a tight fit to work properly. It should just drop into the hold and a slight push to seat fully. Hope this helps. Easiest is just let the shop bore out the hole to fit that pin as it takes allot of effort and time to do the sanding, but it's free labour.

I’m getting one of these. Thanks for your review. You captured the tone of the guitar really well. I think your lighter touch recorded well. I have been an Eastman fan for many years, but like you, this one really impressed in the music store. The pickup also works well. Will do a comparison of this with my Eastmans on my channel. The LL16 has SOLID Rosewood back and sides. The LL16M has SOLID Mahogany back and sides. The LL6R has laminated rosewood back and sides. The LL6M has laminated mahogany back and sides. The confusion arises from the fact that when you google the LL16, google will mix the search results for the LL16 with the LL6 together. If anybody reading this is considering spending up to 2grand for a Martin, Taylor, Gibson, Fender etc, then stop and try one of these LL16 models out! You won't leave the shop without it!

Please remember .. solid tops is needed. Laminate body's are excellent also. Stronger travels well and better stage performers. All solid is not necessarily the best thing. But people have this idea that it is.
