I bought an LS16 and was so impressed a few days later I bought an LL16 too! Finally affordable guitars made in China that are every bit as good as the finest USA-made and Japanese-made guitars! I have inspected them both inside and out and the build is immaculate, the tone lush and balanced and easily the most playable acoustics I have ever owned - I have owned more than 50 guitars including USA and Japanese acoustics and these blow my mind for how much guitar you get for a thousand bucks!! These guitars can hold their own with any of the finest guitars in the world! Amazing!

Very good comparison video which I really wanted to hear side by side! LL16’s tone is bright and coarse whereas LL26 is settled and refined.
@tomformanek33122 жыл бұрын
May be as simple as the saddle. The 16 uses a plastic named urea. The 26 series and above (made in Japan) use bone.

Indeed swap out a bone saddle and pins on the LL-16 and it can't be beat
@phoenixsound Жыл бұрын
If only it was that simple. I own an LL16 on which I have replaced the saddle with a bone saddle and removed the under saddle transducer. I also replaced the pins with ebony pins. There was no discernible change in tone, the original urea saddle is actually quite good. Conpared to something like a Martin dread it’s a relatively bright but very balanced guitar. Compared to the mushy warmth of a D28 or D35 it sounds brittle. I have found it sounds best with the dead strings from my other guitars. 80/20 strings give it a little extra low end.

great comparison, but some of the videos are labeled opposite. I love the ll-16 for the price, it can't be beat.

Thank you for the comparison video. There isn't a big difference in sound between the two, but there is a difference. Although the notes are a bit more articulate on the LL26, the notes seem slightly brittle and less resonant than the LL16. For my taste, I prefer the LL16. I'm willing to sacrifice a bit of note clarity for the richer, more resonant sound of the LL16. Frankly, I don't understand the difference in price.

I'm of the same opinion. I swapped out bridge pins, saddle, nut and replaced with Tusq. A bit of fitting and sanding but once completed it changed the sound of the guitar completely. Incredible sustain and projection by comparison and articulate. I think it's as close to the LL26 as you can get spending about $50 for all the parts. The bridge pins made the biggest difference, then saddle. The nut basically balanced the sound frequencies and tied it all together. Worth every nickle and effort and if you were in another room and someone played the new guitar, you would not be able to recognize it compared to the original. The overtones and harmonics made the difference.

Same experience for me after i changed my bridge pins for Tusq.
@quigley4440 Жыл бұрын
@@petereriksson5285 After changing the pins decided to do everything. Cost is minimal. Tusq saddle was the Martin style and needed a bit of sanding to lower the action and took about 10 minutes. The nut was part # PQ6133-00 and matched the LL nut original size.

What an excellent comparison. I love my ll16, I’d love to try out a 26. Btw at 3:18 you got the names mixed up.

Both are great. The LL26 sounds more open and resonate, with more overtones and harmonics. But I would be happy with either I think.

LL26 sounds alot better when strummed. Also nicer fingerstyle.

Please tell me if you record LL16 sound in the sound card line, there is no passive pickup and equalizer in the guitar, ie nothing can be changed, only on PC or mixer, does it work well, is it better fgx830 c with active pickup?
@phoenixsound Жыл бұрын
LL16 has a very flat eq response, better for fingerstyle. The LL26 has slightly scooped mids, better for strumming.
@weeasledude Жыл бұрын
To my ears they both sound amazing and both are extremely versatile and will handle either strumming / chording or finger-style with aplomb. They have a 44.0mm nut with 36.5mm e-to-e string spacing which I consider the goldilocks zone for both fingerstyle and chording. I agree with you that the LL26 is more scooped with more dynamics in the lows and highs heard, but my experience in person with the LL16 (compared in a music shop today against an $11k D45) is that it is an incredible and versatile guitar. It's probably tricking your ears a little to hear them A-B'd like this... In the music shop today (where I bought the LL16) and here at home, this is a tone monster and easily up there with a couple of my Two Thousand dollar-ish guitars for both strumming and fingerstyle....

The LL16 is more bass biased, where as the LL26 is very even. I happen to like the bass bias.

None of them strikes me as better then the other, most of the time a proper setup will take even LL16 a long way as it still has the great ingredients. All solid wood with same design as the more expensive model.

For those who say the LL26 sounds better than the LL16, please know and acknowledge that the guitar is more expensive about 3-4 times. Also, it is a Japan-made quality guitar while the LL16 a China-made.
