Thank you! I've had this keyboard a few months now and am slowly getting to grips with it. Your tutorials helped me greatly in the early days/weeks. I really don't find Yamaha's interface intuitive or easy to work with at all, to the point where I find myself going to one of my cheaper keyboards to work with rather than wrangling with Yamaha's frustrating, overly complicated menus. A shame because I love the sound of this keyboard, the pianos a beautiful and I love the key action. But sometimes I just can't bear the thought of trying to program it when most things can be done easily on my little Korg Kross like sequencing and arp programming, albeit it doesn't sound half as good as the Yamaha.

Hey, Cathy! Can you change the octave of one of the voices when you layer?

Yes! After you layer your two voices hit F1 (voice) and select the part (voice) that you want to change. Just highlight something in that part. Then hit F4 (tone) then highlight "NoteShift". Then use your Data Wheel to change the pitch of the instrument either up or down. It will raise or lower the pitch in half steps. You will want to raise it to +12 if you want to make the voice an octave higher.

I'm sorry, but I don't understand what you mean by "just highlight something in that part." Do you do this before you store the layer or after? @@cathyt6773

When I wrote my reply I was thinking about another video I made showing how to set up different voices in 4 regions on the keyboard. kzbin.info/www/bejne/b5XPpp6PZ7CXbck. If you watch that video it will show you another way you can layer voices. (You do this by not setting limits to the different voices - - this will make more sense when you watch the video.). If you watch the video, I think you will figure out how to change the octave of only one of the voices. Just follow the instructions in my reply (above). When I say highlight something in that "part" I mean just put your cursor somewhere on part 1 if you want to change the octave of the part 1 voice. I think this will make sense when you watch the video link I have included here. Let me know if you can make sense out of this. I don't know how to change the octave when layering as shown in the current video "How to Layer More Than 2 Voices.". Sorry. I have been messing around unsuccessfully so far.
