Wow!!!! Thank you so much!!!! I went back to my trusty Motif ES after years of using Mainstage, we play allot of wineries in the boonies now because of Covid and the wi-fi gets glitchy making me one nervous musician, after 2 major dropouts on my midi controllers I went back to hardware and I had completely forgotten how to use the Motif. The XF and all the Motifs basically have the same lingo with just a few slight changes so I was able to apply your tutorial to my Es, I've saved all your tutorials you don't rush through the motions like most of the you-tubers do its like they are typing, just wanted to thank you again.

THANK YOU for your work on all these videos! They are very helpful! I had to smile hearing how long you've had you keyboard and been learning these things. I've had mine for at least 5 years and have barely scratched the surface. Good stuff. You know, hearing how you've dealt with the learning curve on this Keyboard would be a very interesting story in itself. Thanks again.

I just want to thank you for making and sharing this video. I have been searching for the know-how recorded in this video for so long I’m embarrassed to be more specific. Thank you thank you thank you. I found places in the manual that stated that I could store voices in order in a User Bank but then, quite bizarrely, the manual would fail to explicate. Anyway, consider me subscribed and thank you once again.

As a matter of interest, when you edit the voice name, it shows the new name on the very top line and the existing user slot name that you’re overwriting in the main part of the display :-)

Great video! Will these instructions work with layered voices that I've created? Or is that a different process
@cathyt67736 жыл бұрын
You can save any voice you want (including a layered or edited voice you created) by bringing up the voice or the "new performance" (layered voice you just made) and hitting "store" then saving it in one of the two USR Banks.
@cathyt67736 жыл бұрын
I have been playing around with this a little more. Please continue reading this and I think it will be helpful: Let's say you want to save or store a specific "voice" to USR1:001(A01). As you hit store, if your Voice Mode light is lit as you dial up the USR Bank and number you want to save the voice at, you are saving the "voice" to that USR Bank position. BUT IF YOU WANT TO SAVE/STORE a PERFORMANCE and the Performance Mode light is lit, you can also save it in the same position (USR1:001(A01)). In other words there can be a "voice" and a "performance" both saved as USR1:001(A01). To access the "voice" you must be in "voice" mode. To access the "performance" you must be in "performance" mode. Hope you understand this.

Hi Cathy - thank for your great videos - how do I call up the edited USR voice in song or mixing mode - I could not find it in the voice categories - thank you Chris
@cathyt67735 жыл бұрын
I am away from my keyboard for a few days, but I think you will find the answer in this video if you watch the whole thing. You should be able to call up all voices while in song mode. Make a note of where you saved the USR voice (Usr 1:04 or whatever you saved it as) and then look for it in category search. If you need to use the "Bank Select" (Inc - increase, or Dec - Decrease) buttons to find the right bank (Usr, or Pre, or GM or whatever) that might help. Good luck. If you still struggle, I will be back to my keyboard next Monday.

Cathy, your videos are excellent. Been playing piano for 50 years but struggling to learn the MOXF8. I bought a used MOX which didn't come with software or manuals. I would like to delete some of the voices I inherited. How do I delete a voice?
@cathyt67734 жыл бұрын
Maybe you should do a Factory Set. This means you will re-set the keyboard back to what it was like right out of the box brand new with all of the original settings/voices, etc. Any new voices the previous owner created should be gone. You do this by hitting "Utility" then "Job" then enter. If you do this, be sure to watch my video "Getting Started" after doing it. There might be a couple of tips there to help you. Good luck. If you do not want to do a Factory Set, you can always just save other voices over the tops of the USR voices you inherited. Remember that each USR voice "slot" already has a voice assigned to that slot. These voices are "placeholders" and you can overwrite them whenever you want. In other words, you don't have to get rid of the previous USR voices. Just save "your" voice in that slot instead. But maybe the Factory Set will feel better to you.

Hello Cathy T. do you know how I can delete or free up space on the MOXF Flash Memory Board thanks
@cathyt67734 жыл бұрын
I would just delete some of the songs and patterns that are stored in the memory. You do this by going to a particular song number, hitting "job" then "song (F6)" then "clear song." It works the same in Pattern mode. I don't really know how many songs/patterns my keyboard memory will store, so I always save them on a USB thumbnail drive that I stick into the back of the keyboard in the USB port. You can save or retrieve these songs by going to "File" then "Load" or "Save," depending if you are saving it for the first time, or loading it back onto the keyboard. For more information on this watch my video "How to record a song, name it, and save it."

Thanks for the videos. I find them very helpful. By chance, do you know how to save a drum kit voice to the users?
@cathyt67736 жыл бұрын
Yes. Please watch the video first for basic knowledge about saving User Voices. Then select the drum kit voice you want to save as a user voice, hit store. You will see it as a UDR ("User Drum") and you can save it in one of the UDR banks. Watch the video to see how to access the UDR banks using the "Bank Select" DEC/INC buttons when you turn on your keyboard.

Can you switch seamlessly between these without cut off?
@cathyt67735 жыл бұрын
When you enter the different voices you want to use on separate tracks in song or pattern mode, you should be able to move from track to track seamlessly by pressing one of the 16 buttons on the RH side of your keyboard. Be sure the "Track Select" button is lit. Just experiment and see what you get. If you are holding a note on one voice, then switch to the new voice, the voice should not change until you release the note you were holding and play a new note. Try it.
