Many innovative sounds. Really well made. Nothing for the coverband keyboarders, but they can find ample sets anywhere including Yamaha’s Soundmondo. It is amazing, how clean and spatial the Montage sounds are, to hear especially in the release phase.

Thanks Gerrit, sounds great! I bought Gerrits patches for the Korg Kronos, really nice, the piano sounds alone were worth is, and he programmed some truly beautiful organ/vocals which are hard to get. I'd recommend his sounds, they are worth it, he knows what he's doing and delivers fast! thanks!!

The Montage definitely has the best sounds today: both sampled and FM. I had a DX7 in the eighties and remember that all the FM patches that I cooked up from scratch were terrible. And all the patches I bought from third parties were too “library-ish”-oh that one sounds like that Depeche Mode song, and that one sound like that Madonna song... I sold my DX7 by the end of the 80’s and don’t really regret it. I’m not a nostalgist for old synths. Most of the synths, samplers and piano keyboards I’ve used over the years have been Yamahas. I’m pondering a Moog Modular system as I ease into retirement, just for the pure enjoyment of really synthesizing sounds.

Well, hang on a second. Not sure about the Montage, but the Korg accepts all the classic DX7 sounds (so many for free!), the secret is to COMBINE the korgs sounds with the DX7, then add your EFX to the DX7 and watch the magic happen! I had to DX7's, found that if you detune them slightly using same sound, then pan hard left/right, add reverb, you get an really rich and beautiful sound. I loaded that classic DX7 EP and combined it with Korgs, added chorus/reverb and WOW! Does the montage accept DX7 sounds, being Yamaha i'd guess so, if not, Korg has a huge advantage...

Yes! i would love to see those classic vintage sounds from the 70s/80s, such as the organ from the Doors (listen to the song "The Soft Parade" at the beginning, I'd like to know what he used to get that fantastic harpsichord sound), Iron Butterly's "in a Gadda Da vida" (The organ solo right after the long, but great, drum solo is so nice, i'd pay someone to transcribe it for sheet music), Vanila Fudge (hammond? "You keep Me hanging On"), etc. All in all, i think the Doors had the best and most awesome organ sounds for the 70's, course Rick Wakeman and Emerson (ELP) revolutionized the whole synth world. Saw ELP and YES in concert, priceless! (listen to "Works" pt. 3, Emerson's orchestral composition is outstanding! Well, i bought the Kurzweil last year and sold it, mostly junk, got the Kronos which just get better and better, but the Yamaha is now on my wish list, what's next!!! btw, Gerrit's programming is outstanding, bought his programs for the korg, just amazing sounds, absolutely worth it, he really knows how to program, wish i could, maybe in time! Yes, like the set for the Motif XF/XS. That sound set is fantastic, and the sounds are on the money! I’d happily pay for a set that recreates those sounds, for my Montage too. Surely, it’s a lot of work, but with the Montage, you’re able to so much more, in regards to sound manipulation... I don’t have the patience to program anymore. It can be a tremendous amount of time and energy, but I’d gladly pay for someone’s hard work in putting an 80’s Hit sound set together. Please, let us know if do happen to assemble such a set! Aah read forum this: MODX can read Montage formats. Montage cannot read MODX formats directly. Therefore, what you want - to transfer from Montage to MODX - is supported. So these should work

I bought Gerrits sounds for the korg and they were fantastic! I'm sure his Montage collection is just as good, he sent them immediatelly and they loaded right up, stayed up to 5am playing with them!!!

tudor horia The Oasys was payed to rest once the Kronos was released, but I sold mine 6 months ago preferring the sound of my Motif XS. The problem with some synths is they focus too much on functionality and not on sound. Plus the Kronos is useless as a stand-alone DAW, Yamaha do a much better job generally but I think the Montage is in some ways a step backwards.
