Hi amclellan84. The best way to do that would be to connect a WXC-50DS to the amp. It will add network connection, AirPlay and bluetooth to your system. Will it play MP3 format music from the USB port on the front from a USB stick? I see on the sticker on the front of the Amp it had other formats, but not MP3. I really don't want to have to convert all my MP3's to a different format.

@wdonwelton Yes, this will play back MP3 files from the front USB drive as long as the drive is formatted in FAT16 or FAT32.

Your video player needs to be able to output Optical, Coax, or RCA auto to make it work. If it only has HDMI output you'll have issues. I think you will find that most 5.1 receivers have a 2.1 setting in them. Go check them out at the store...should be able to select which speakers are attached and it figures out the rest.

@@SteveRivett Yes, basically most A/V receivers come with the option of running just 2.1 setups.5.1 receivers are becoming much more rare and for the most part 7.1+ are minimum offered but fortunately they have really dropped in price in recent years. It is compatible with SiriusXM's internet radio, which you would access on your smartphone or tablet. Then use the Yamaha MusicCast app to stream it to the receiver.

Question: the 602 can play mp3s from a USB stick. It can do shuffle play and continuous play within the folder. How can you set it to perform continuous play from folder to folder? I mean first play everything in folder A, then play everything in folder B, then folder C. My over 10 year old Volvo can do this but I do not manage to find out how to do this on a sophisticated home audio machine...

@jandenijmegen5842 This is an older model that we unfortunately don't have on display any more to test out. We've emailed our Yamaha representative to see if they might have the answer and will update this comment if he is able to find out.

@jandenijmegen5842 Just received word from Yamaha. This one will only play within a single folder so you'd have to manually select a different folder once one is done playing. That is how it works on all of their receivers currently. The only option would be to create a single folder that contains all your music if you want to play it all the way through.

Strange that the Yamaha cannot. Apart from that I am very pleased with the Yamaha: great sound and great looks (I am a retro man)...

Hi Reynir. According to Yamaha you need to use the MusicCast controller app to set the audio output to bluetooth. There isn't a way to do it straight from the receiver. If you've done this already and it's still not working there may be a compatibility issue with your headphones. Yamaha R-N602: Class A/B Yamaha WXA-50: Class D if this (still) matters for you, that's all. I'd go for the R-N602, no matter what.

Hi Aniket Naik. Yes, this is an amplifier as well. It's capable of powering the S60 speakers from Polk, but you may also want to look at the Yamaha RN803: www.abt.com/product/115129/Yamaha-Black-Network-Stereo-Receiver-RN803.html as it's a bit more powerful and would drive those S60s better. According to Polk, the recommended amplifier power is anywhere from 20 watts to 300 watts, so I wouldn't say it's under powered with the RN602, but there are more powerful amps available that might help the speakers sound better.

Hello, there are two types of Yamaha Receivers nowadays: "Made in Japan" for Japan's domestic market, and "Made in Malaysia" for export; Both are assembled with japanese components (in the case of the R-N602 the exceptions are: a american DAC and a few chinese relays, which does not affect the product's quality). In Brazil I got a "Made in Malaysia" 120v/240v 50Hz/60Hz General Model for export to the Latin American market (via Yamaha Mexico).

Maybe you can help me. I'm not going to use anything about Music Cast, Spotfie, Alexa etc. and never use cellular with Yamaha r-n602 or r-n803... I bought these new Stereo Yamaha Receivers only to hear my cds and to use bass, treeble, loudness and to connect 4 speakers with it. I don't hear AM or FM since 1983. I prefer the Yamaha R-N700 (I, unfortunately, bought only one of it). I'm very old (66 years) to programm the ohms, using advanced controls (I read the Yamaha manuals 4 times) to select digitally the ohms, and whatever. All my 5 "new" Yamaha Stereo Receivers are into their original boxes, and I'm thinking to trade it to 5 Yamaha R-S700 (very easy to do what I want). And to connect 4 speakers JBL S-312 (frequency as low as 35Hz). Other thing that the manuals never explained is how to hook up (plug) a Stereo Amplifier to these "new" Yamahas r-n602 and r-n803. Or how to do using 4 speakers -- I'll need 2 (two) stereo amplifiers to do the "trick" to listen 4 speakers??? Nothing. I got no answer from Yamaha or the customers or any review or from the Manuals. So, I think I did very wrong buying the "new" Yamahas. To be worst than that, I bought 4 Yamaha speakers NS-777, because the tower speakers I want was out of stock during the "Pandemic" years. And those NS-777 are all in 6 ohms. Wow. Nothing I want. Maybe I'll make a trade with all 4 Yamaha speakers to get refurbished JBL S-312 (I've 10 of it, but they need to be refurbished), and trade the 5 new Yamaha Stereo Receivers to 5 Yamaha R-S700. I'm looking for answers for 4 to 5 months, and received no answer. I'm tired (and old, 66 years).

The pure direct is kinda stupid. I really like mine. Outstanding sound through 4 Polk outdoor speakers and a sub. My only complaint is that getting laptops and tablets to bluetooth connect is a pain.

Pure Direct is for those audiophiles who want to bypass the Digital Signal Processing (DSP) including tone controls, for the absolute best sound the Yamaha amplifier system is capable of. Of course, if you can't hear the difference, leave it off so you can control more functions from your remote and software.

I am using this for the past 2 years and it lacks a punch, you got have an additional sub-woofer to get the desired punch in your music. Wasted Rs.40000, $525, euro 487, GBP 426, then there will be issues of receiver getting in to safe mode. These modern receivers are not good in comparison to my old Pioneer & Denon Jap made, perfectly made for the current music as well, no extra bass or treble they just hit the meter correctly & guess what even the powerhouse capacity is less in comparison to the RN602.

Have you tried the Loudness option? Move the Loudness knob to bottom middle and increase the Bass. This will reduce the Midrange so increase the volume to your hearing level. This will sound better (punchier!!)

I am probably going to get a lot of hate for my comment but so be it. I cannot believe this receiver is getting the positive reviews it is. I bought it from Amazon and after setting it up I was very disappointed with the sound. I thought it sounded dull and unexciting. I do not have the best speakers but they are good. I use Klipsch KG-4's with the Bob Crites titanium tweeter diaphragms and crossover upgrades. I use a little SMSL AD18 for my desktop and to my ears it sounds much better than the Yamaha. I ended up returning the R-N602. I guess if you like it you like it but it is not for me. It is actually the second Yamaha receiver I have bought that I did not like. I really wanted to like the R-N602, I like the way it looks and the build quality seems good but sonics was disappointing.
