Yamaha R1 ISNT As FAST As YOU THINK | MT-10 vs R1| Sport Bike vs Naked Bike | 1000cc Motorcycle Race

In this video I ride Eric's (@ItsMeEricB) 2017 Yamaha MT-10 and race it against my 2014 Yamaha R1. Nate is riding my Yamaha R1 and Eric is riding my 2019 Husqvarna 701 Supermoto in this video. Eric's MT-10 does have an ECU flash and has been tuned. My Yamaha R1 has a -1 front sprocket and that is it. I will be doing a quickshifter and an ECU flash on my Yamaha R1 very soon.
After watching the video, you'll see that the MT-10 and R1 are very close until about 120-130mph. After that, the Yamaha R1 starts to pull away from the MT-10 because it is more aerodynamic and tuned for top end speed. The MT-10 (FZ-10) is a wheelie MONSTER. I was barely able to keep that front wheel down.

When I chopped my R1 in for the mt10 I wasn't sure if I was going to be happy with it but now after a few months I actually prefer it, it's more comfortable smooth and more usable and I can ride it much longer than the R1.its literally the best of both worlds

The R1 is definitely going to take the lead on the interstate, but the MT10 with it’s shorter gears and more low end torque could possibly take the lead in the first 3 gears even though it has less horsepower

@@FastLaneD No I'm 90% sure annitori is only one way (but can be used using normal or gp shift), if you want bidirectional id reccomended translogic but I'm pretty sure there's quite a price increase there and I belive you also need an ecu flash for that

With that comparison I’d have to honestly rule that MT10 to be the better bike. That being said the R1 will always be the R1 not only fast but with that sharp Yamaha look. But if you had 1 bike I’d go for the M10 all day. The speed difference is minuscule for the advantage of riding position and comfort level that the 10 brings to the table. Both awesome bikes just be preference to what style of riding your looking to do.

I wish that MT10 had a quick shifter like my tuned 2018 MT!!!! It was so annoying watching him lose time and yards in between those shifts! It actually made me really sad ha ha ha Up to 3rd gear (120mph) the MT has the R1 all day, and then after that the R1, which has 30-35 more hp, gets the nod! Greetings from the UK :)

The R1 engine and the MT10 engine have the same cc number but they arent the same engine. The R1 engine has higher compression parts. That's why it has 40 more hp.
