In this video, we take care of some air mods that we can do now that we have a new exhaust on and we have the ECU flashed. The AIS (Air Injection System) is the first to go. It's used to help burn off excess fuel in the exhaust for emissions purposes, but it does not help the bike's performance in anyway and is just unecessary weight. It can even prevent you from doing an accurate dyno tune if you're going down that route. In it's place, we install some smog block off plates and since we're messing with the airbox anyways, I swap the stock air filter for a high flow race filter from BMC. Bike should breathe a whole lot better now!

+The Inja Are you referring to the bolts that secure the lower portion of the airbox? They're actually held down with tabs. They're not loose.

Hey Motonosity! I've been following for a bit now and just wanted to say you're the inspiration to me picking up an '18 R6. Having that said, I've installed K&N Race Filter and a Full Akro along with Bauce Racing ECU Flash. I'm loving everything about it, the powerband, engine braking, overall smoothness. My nly thing that's really bothering me is the exhaust now throws a single loud pop 1-2 seconds after releasing the throttle on decel but only when I'm applying 50%-100%. If I'm applying less than 50% throttle, it does not happen. After the flash there's no more burble on decel but it does throw a single loud pop after every single time no matter what gear or what mode I'm in. I've been told by numerous shops including anthony from bauce racing to install block off plates to reduce that popping though from this video you mentioned with bauce racing ECU flash the AIS is already disabled so blockoff plates won't help with that? I hope you can shine some light as to whether I would be wasting my efforts but I just really can't stand that loud single pop.

Hey Motonosity. Hoping you can answer a question for me. I also own a 2017 r6 and I recently bought a full akrapovic system. It’s my first bike. I’ve looked at different videos on KZbin and some people keep the O2 sensor and others like yourself say you don’t need it. Keep it or lose it is my question and why? Thanks.

Greetings Motonosity! Quick question. When they disable the AIS with an ECU flash is it necessary to remove the AIS or can I leave it even though it is no longer functioning? Thanks.

I plan to put these block plate on. I keep hearing that the f1/check engine light will come on. Did u have this issue? And if so would a flash take care of that issue.

Do you still have this bike?? You bought the bmw I know but wonder if you do still ride this bike? Ever consider installing AirPod filters?? The install just takes a bit of re-engineering with the hoses and airtemp sensor but to get more airflow this way is all that can be done. Anyway. Be safe

Honestly I have no idea how Houston thought it was going to be OK. A HUGE circulation coming into the gulf. Houston is already prone to flooding, as is. They were approximating San Antonio would have over 20 inches of rainfall and we're hundreds of miles inland. What the hell did a coastal city think would happen?

As for to prep or not, I figured I had enough beer to last a few days. And we live on a hill so flooding isn't usually an issue. - I just look at so many of the low-lying neighborhoods and wonder how the hell anyone thought it was a good idea to buy a house there. We don't get heavy rains often so our drainage is terrible.

Yamaha could have made it lifting the tank a much easier task then that was. Suzuki's lookj much more convenient. Also looking at the location of your spark plugs, THAT must be a bear of a chore changing those.

I have already flashed my ECU before installing the plates, will it show any error code? I don’t remember if the AIS can be disabled or it was disabled when it was flashed earlier. Bauce racing- Anthony did my flash. Do i have to disable it and reflash the ecu?

U can't disable the ais. He disables the.check engine light for the ais after you remove it cause nothing is plugged in. Jyst disables the light

did your check engine light come on from disconnecting that sensor? what was the fix?

I don't believe there's a light for a disconnected AIS (I could be wrong). However, I had the AIS disabled with my ECU flash so even if there was a light, it wouldn't have come on for me.
