If your R6 doesnt handle better than an R7, your tires are too squared off, you need more track days, and you need to set your suspension to your weight. You live in cali, hit up dave moss.
@DoctorJ13373 жыл бұрын
Or the R7 just handles better.
@EjinRenos3 жыл бұрын
Can agree with this. The R6 is an amazing corner and curve conqueror machine. Only other motorcycle in the same class to come close is Honda and it's still leagues away from it. I don't doubt the "R7" is tuned well by Yamaha, but I do doubt it surpasses the R6 in agility.
@ChaseN1943 жыл бұрын
@@EjinRenos I think the R7 is very much like the Ninja 400. People place solid laptimes and have tons of fun on a stock Ninja400, but when they upgrade the suspension(a lot), get better tires, get a nice tune on it: presto, you have a fun and great handling bike that is only about 4 seconds short of beating 1000cc times. THAT SAID, the R7 is MORE capable than a Ninja 400, and all the suspension problems with the MT-07 where fixed. BUT, the R6 was set up out of the box as a race ready bike, simple as that. If you weigh 190lbs or less, no exhaust changes or tunes, no upgrades to chassis or suspension, maybe pull the plug on the abs. You can go from a beginner group track day rider, to a semi-pro race license holder. Thats not something the R7 can do stock, its a bike they built intentionally to have POTENTIAL that way it would be a fun and comfy street bike that you could ride fast if you wanted to do some upgrades. As for R6 vs CBR, I own both platforms. Given my cbr is a 2017 1000, but ive ridden many cbr600s. The only cbr600 to buy is 07-08. All the others are out of date, slow, and are a bitch to work on. But honda and yamaha are different. Yamaha builds the R6 with power first then handling. My 2017 R6 is angry and twitchy on slow speeds, but once you get it above 10k, you are faster than any 600, and the bikes handling just gets so much better when its going fast. The cbr600 has its chassis built around cornering, with the engine as an after thought. The cbr will out handle any R6 on a smaller track, you wanna drag knee, cbr will do it where the R6 will make you prove yourself by going fast to drag knee. That said its not uncommon for the 2017+ R6's to make 115 on a full system and air filter alone. Throw in some fine tuning and light engine work and for cheap you can get a 120whp R6. My friend owns a retired 2007 Erion Racing HRC CBR600, it was a backup bike that never saw a race, he uses it for his track bike. That bike has about $15k in engine work and it touches 126whp, full ohlines front and rear, brembos...ect, and a 2008-2020 R6 with about $2k in engine work could pull the exact same power figure and handle just as well.

@EjinRenos3 жыл бұрын
That's kinda the problem. Assuming the displacement numbering system relates to actual power or capability. The "R7" may be have 700cc displacement but it's not an inline FI4 which is proven superior engine. So a 650 people would assume is faster than a R6. Or GSXR600. Or Zx6r. Etc etc. Because it is a bigger number. But even an SV1000 and its ilk has trouble going against a proper "R" 600cc bike, because its engine isn't built for performance ability. Same issue with this poorly named motorcycle. Yamaha should've just named it the YZF700...

@@EjinRenosso what's an R3 then, not an R bike either, why is there no In-line 4 R4? By what account is a 4 cylinder a "superior proven engine"? Does it cost less to run, more reliable and fuel efficient? Does it focus on real skill or just compensate for the "I go fast crowd"? If 600 inline 4's are so amazing why have sales been failing for years, why must Brands then invest in emissions innovation on bikes that don't sell properly in the first place. Why does it need to be faster than a R6 anyway, and if you want faster inline 4 then just get an R1? Why would anyone be mad about options that lower the barrier to entry for more riders to support the industry that may also end up investing in 600's which in turn supports manufacturers developing new and exciting future platforms like the GSX-8R and R9. Why are R7 haters ignorant of the bigger picture thinking they know better than one of the most successful bike brands on the planet. Asking for a bike shop owner's friend.
