I wish they would offer these models in North America, the raid model would sell so well here for people who love to do long rides.
@iangriffiths99303 ай бұрын
I’m not sure about this? One of the reasons I bought one was that it’s basic, much less to go wrong or get in the way of how the bike rides. I feel a lot of owners bought one for similar reasons, but now as they start adding stuff to the bike you are bringing the bike more inline with other ADV bikes, maybe good 🤷♂️ but for me it’s losing the main selling point and the main difference between itself and others in the same category. For people who want to ride off road it seems the choice is slowly getting smaller unless you are happy with and don’t mind paying for the tech.

@@podunkman2709TC is not a must have for everyone. I learned to ride in the 80’s when you were lucky to have two disk brakes on a bike. If you ride sensibly, you don’t need TC, it’s nice to have but it’s definitely not a must.

I don't understand why no tubeless wheels Yamaha? Do you see what the competition is offering? Why are Japanese companies so afraid of tubeless? Suzuki Vstrom 800, Honda Trans-help 750 and Yamaha's T700 are the gutless tubeless pointless blunders of the ADV world.

Interesting. I've had ADV bikes for over 20 years and all have had tubed tyres. I've never had an issue with them and I think I've only ever had one puncture on a ride to date on thousands of miles of heavy off road riding in the US and Canada. A lot of issues with tubes are usually down to tyre choice and pressure (right stiffness of tyre for the terrain and adjusting the pressure to avoid pinch flats). That said, I've had a few punctures from changing tyres at home and pinching the tube! More than anything I like being able to just change a tube if I get a puncture on a ride, easier and more reliable than a plug when you're 100kms into the bush.

Pull you luggage off, work in the direct 115 degree sun for a few hours changing a tire in the desert or along side the road with the semi trucks just feet away and you would wish you could plug, fill and go before you pass out or get hit. Same for rain, storms, bad neighborhoods, wrong place wrong time scenario.

How can they go to RBW throttle, but not offer cruise control... If you want a 'robust' offroad bike that you can fix on the trail, you would want regular throttle cables. If you are going to offer ride by wire, might as well offer the big advantage that it opens up as well. Also no bolted rear frame is a strange choice.
@davidz83 ай бұрын
The face refresh is excellent, close enough to the previous design not to alienate exiting owners, but fresh enough to stand out as new, the RBW throttle I think is a good thing, as is the one touch ABS/Traction control button, I still think they have missed a trick with not at least offering Cruise control as an option, it would transform this version into a great long distance adventure tourer, maybe a World Raid version will have it. The new TFT screen looks good but looks very close to the GPS mount bar. Hope to see it at Motorcycle live.

Interesting all the tech they added and the other changes. I find the Tenere 700 to be like the SUV of motorcycling, off road, commuting, touring, errands and there are lots of parts to make into any type of motorcycle you want. That is a nice engine to work on, oil changes are a breeze. If I was in the market for an all rounder motorcycle I would probably have in the garage,.

I’ve just looked at one in the dealership, they look really top heavy. I like tank saddle arrangement they use on the World Raid model, but do not need the extra fuel capacity. It would be great if they used the World Raids tank design with the std models 17L fuel capacity. This would lower the tank height and centre of gravity. Win, win.

Yamaha, you either build a simple bike, forget all the gadgets, and sell it cheap, but the Tenere 700 most definitely isn’t cheap. Instead, Yamaha haven’t learnt from their competition or listened to their customers. They have most certainly made the bike more expensive, without actually adding the features to match competitors and what the customers wanted, I.e cruise control, tubeless wheels that don’t corrode, bolt on rear subframe, better placed rear silencer and bolt on silencer hanger. I expect this bike will not sell in the numbers they hope for, because there are simply better bikes, with better specs, with comparable or cheaper prices. Why go to the expense of fitting TBW and not fit CC, and other than the true off road diehards, most want tubeless wheels (its far cheaper to buy an aftermarket set of tubed wheels than it is to buy aftermarket tubeless wheels). I’ve owned the first version of Rally Edition and a World Raid, both bikes I loved, but after the World Raid, I lost faith in Yamaha, with corroding wheels, flaking paint and corrosion on the frame and swing arm. The bikes spec’s and quality didn’t justify the price they are asking. This new update won’t fool me, Yamaha.

One of the really attractive aspects of the T7 was its Simplicity like the lack of silly electronics. ABS proves more of a annoyance than all else. I don't need TC. And, CC? Really? On the dirt trails? I do not need that nonsense. What should have been improved on is the exhaust damper and sub frame. The sub frame should be detachable as a bolt-on unit. And the exhaust damper perhaps be more integrated like the YZ 450.
