I have a 2003 year production model. Same carb setup. If they are setup correctly the motor runs very well and fuel mileage is good. The problems comes in when people try to "tune" them to do what they're not designed to do.

I know this video is a few years old but just wanted to say thank you for the good quality video. I've been working on an 83 tt600 and the previous owner completely botched the carb. I finally figured out that previous owner had the slide in upside down (I'm sure they gave up on the bike and sold it to me for cheap ($500) when they couldn't get the carb to go back together properly). Oddly enough the slide fit, just not correctly enough to make it all work. I also found 3 missing hoses, a missing spring, missing air fuel screw/spring/washer/o-ring, missing air intake tubes (which I had to order from England of all places), plus everything was loose. Lol, the main spring gets delivered tomorrow so I'll see if it actually runs now. I used your video as a guide to compare mine to and again just wanted to thank you for taking the time to put up this video since it helped me much more than you would understand.

If you drill out the secondary by 2 sizes it opens up the power like crazy! As well as making the secondary opens a little quicker with the adjustment.

The dual carb setup was used in an attempt to reduce lag and increase throttle response. These days, I’d put a pumper on it.

They got rid of it. Wait my xt600e 2003. Last production year still has this system. And it's actually REALLY genius. It's basically a fake 3 to 4 valve system that increases the low end RPM. And makes sure the engine can't fall on its face with getting to much air
@highlandcycles3 жыл бұрын
It’s ok but I think it’s over complicated. When tuned it does work but a well tuned accelerator pump carb works well too and is only one thing to deal with. Now those are complicated too and have issues for sure but I’d rather deal with one than two personally

@@highlandcycles well I agree , they are hard to tune for more power. But I honestly think it's the best thing before fuel injection. Especially on a 1 cil engine with 2 Intake ports
