Wow ! Think of the instant torque available. Electric trial makes great sense. High torque, low noise and pollution. With greater and greater battery density, it's very promising. Back in the 70's I made my initiation to trial with a TY80 and a TY175

Michael Bennett I honestly don’t think we’re very far away from MX being taken over by electric. They only have to last approx 30 mins at full power so I think it will happen sooner rather than later. But they will be amazing bikes so don’t think of it as a bad thing.

Yeah electric mx bikes will be faster,but coz something is faster doesn't make it more fun,in fact electric makes it much easier and less engagement for the brain which will make electric mx bikes pretty boring,no vibration,no smell,shit sound plus electric motorcycles have fuck all character I mean can u see us all in 20years time appreciating that fine vintage battery and vintage electric motor,no way,there nothing there to appreciate,but for trials riding and getting A to B ye for sure,for pure pleasure though give me gas any day!

Well, I didn't mean in a back pack or anything, that's why you keep 'em in the van or truck that you transport the bike in. ;¬) I had a few trials machines in the past and always had a van as well.

Overall success for a competition bike in the US, especially US Nationals , will be battery life. The loops can be very very long. Doubt the Minder would want to carry an extra battery in his backpack. Lastly, if it requires battery swaps to complete a comp , those lithium batteries can cost a small even big fortune. Having to have extra batteries may make this out of reach for most. But what an amazing thing Yamaha did, kudos for them. Instant torque:-) Remember Gas Gas made working prototypes but they never made into production. Be interested why they thought a no-go.

So it has a clutch contrary to... any electric vehicle. From what i know and what i could hear? Engine was "reving" 1:06. Cool bike, great vid ! Probably pretty expensive, range doesn't bother me, It's fun ;)

Crispy K that's what I was wondering. It would be beneficial for even the electric version to have one so that it could have that extra boost for climbing and hopping up on to things. But never seen one with a clutch.

Gas gas TXE is gunna have them beat with a 6 speed manual gearbox. I’d only buy a trails bike if it was electric, I’m surprised more people aren’t doing it, but I’d also only buy a trails bike if it have a manual gearbox / clutch. Need to have that gearbox on electric, a lot of people use these to train with for hard enduro like myself and without the clutch training isn’t as good. Not to mention power control.

Clutch is useful, it seems like this has it as it has left and right levers and a foot brake. But you don't really need transmissions for electric vehicles, at least not until you're going really fast. You also don't change gears much on a trials bike. You choose 1st, 2nd, or 3rd for an obstacle and hit it in that gear.

mutilatedjello yes that is true, but I like a tranny for the simple fact that makes the controls more like a dirt bike, even if it’s harder honestly.. for training purposes. It would be dope if this has a Cluth tho, definitely would be interested if it had that, and it could as you say.

I know what you mean, training and practice is one reason why I want one. But I specifically don’t want the gears as I like the fact that it takes one thing out of the equation and lets me focus more on bike control. The clutch is a good thing though. Electric motion makes one I’d been eying, but with so little dealer support or history I’ve been hesitant.

I love the tech but those high torque Batteries make the bike and break the bike. I'm guessing the extra B-Pacs are astronomical. I wonder what the weight difference is from the gas to the electric?

I LOVE they added a clutch to help replicate a gas engine. that will help with the switch between I.C.Engine and Electric. (..but all that carbon fiber will make it ex-$PEND-sive for sure.):
