I would definitely not ride like that on a such a road but the V4 sounds so much better than an inline 4... Even the 1200, though 35 years old is still a powerful bike. More than enough for whatever is needed on public road.

@@pycJIaH77 vast majority of people who claim that bad handling of the 1200 VMax have never sat on one. Mine is stable up to top speed at 230 kph (German Autobahn) and same goes for Swiss and Austrian curvey alp passes. I managed even the passo di gavia back when it wasn't paved on southern ramp on my 1200 VMax. If you are experienced enough to ride big bikes of the 70's and 80's, the VMax 1200 will not have any bad handling. But yes, time went on and that is why most got used to more modern handling. Many exceed their riding capabilities on public roads. It is NEVER the machine, it is always the rider that sets the limits. Part of riding is to know and understand the machine you are working with. To old for a 1200 VMax is hardly possible because it encourages relaxed low rev riding. On public roads when at least to some extend respecting speed limits, the VMax will not show any form of bad handling. Saying this, it is obvious that smaller bikes handle much better, I also love to ride my 1st gen SV650. But the cool, relaxed mighty feeling of the 1200 and even more on the 1700 VMax is breathtaking. From lowest revs to redline - much more power than ever needed. Like the AC Cobra on 2 wheels.

What steering damper are you running ? I have a 1988 with a 1998 front end , 1985 front rim with the 1998 disks , 1998 calipers , progressive springs , super brace , Russel lines , and different valving in the front end , lead shot in the handle bars , I have a damper on it now but it is right in front of my knee and it scares me , I want one up on the triple trees , Thanks

Vmax does not have a limiter and it is easy to miss gear and bend some valves. The bike is very powerful but this engine is very fragile.

Problem with me was I had trainers on and not motorcycle boots and didn't feel the gear lever but what you say is worth noting 👍

I'm just looking at what you people call a 'drive in the country'. Theres not scat to look at! And, you guys dont have any trees?? Like the bike. I have a 98 Vmax. Yaou need a hell-of-a-lot more road to really wring it out.
