One of the most terrifying, and rewarding, experiences happened when I was learning to ride when little. I never rode anything bigger than a Suzuki rm80...then, I hopped on someone’s early 1980s Yamaha yz490...to say these two bikes are the opposite end of the universe is a severe understatement. I enjoyed the ride and survived. It’s all about the right hand and respecting the machine. Even to this day, would I let the right hand have it on the yz490? Hell no. That’s a wicked bike and demands respect at all times. I can imagine the hayabusa is the same idea. Very manageable and can be enjoyable but must be respected at all times, THAT is where the experienced part comes in. Knowing your limits and having the self control to stay within those limits

Josh is right - you cant beat an SV650 or any of the 650s in terms of all around fun and usability -- Busa is like a dragster, great for the strip, but imaging city riding on that thing, or even the twisty roads -- it just wouldn't be that much fun. It's a specialized machine and a beast at it.

i bought my first sportbike 14 years into riding (wish i had bought one sooner) and its a ZX11 (i still have it). it can't really hang with a more modern bike like the Busa, but it never ceases to amaze me. only had it in triple digits once (i only rode it for a season before teardown) and at 105 it was just gettin in the groove... smoothed out and felt perfect. it's crazy how much power that class of bike has.

I own a gen2 2012. I love a gen2 2012. The gearbox is buttery smooth. It munches mile without a hitch. Granted it's the weight of a rodeo bull but once rolling turns into a comfortable and understanding beast. Riding at sane speeds the fuel consumption is good. Planning on lots of city riding put it down to B mode. Chances are if you have ever red lined this bike A/ you are being chased by the law. B/ you are planning to be chased by the law. It's a very well refined machine, pillion is comfortable with torque for days. Meaning it could easily take two most places without grumbling. The brakes can be sorted but stock ones are fine if you know how to apply a good f/b ratio. It can be a cruiser / it can be a cruise missile. Everything is in the wrist and mind. Great video always nice to see other rider reactions.

So for those who don't know, really ANY bike made from Suzuki, and a couple others, in the past few+ years have a "power mode" A,B,C selector. A=Full Send, B=75-80%Power, C=50-60%Power. So anyone can start with a litter bike and with the aide of the computer and not get hurt. In my opinion the GSXR1000 is a masterpiece. Peace

@benstech726 4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewr2572 it's true riders of 10 years + will handle bikes with far more confidence (or fear, depending on their history with them) but it isn't the case he's a beginner. A beginner by definition would be new, nervous and stiff, and a bike wouldn't obey his expectations completely. After 2 years a rider should be on their way to relaxing their arms, positioning themselves for comfort and feel and deciding which line a bike takes based on their needs not on random chaos that beginners tend to suffer from. It could be seen from his riding he was still getting accustomed to the bike but was comfortable on 2 wheels. It's past the point of a beginner, regardless of who he is compared to. It doesn't really prove the point that someone new to riding can get on a busa and go no issues. Worst things like target fixation, panic braking, not looking where to go, awkward in slow maneuvers, bailing on a lean mid corner do happen and on a busa that can go worse given you'll unknowingly be doing higher speeds.

It's all easy and manageable until you roll on throttle too fast, downshift and clutch too quickly, or hit a bump that jiggles your throttle, and then you're dead. For anyone considering it, star with something SLOW to learn throttle control and smoothness.
@Ritalie
@Ritalie 4 жыл бұрын
I switched from a 27 horsepower XS400cc to a 115 horsepower ZX-6R when I was 19, and the only problem is the stopping distance. Going fast doesn't cause an accident. Not being able to stop in time, is what kills people. That's why fast motorcycles kill people. Because they don't anticipate the stopping distance. A Hayabusa could effortlessly get to 150mph before hitting a turn, and then you're dead. The Hayabusa does have a button with 3 "speed levels" A, B & C. You can turn it to C, and it's a dog.

this guy's impression is basically why i ride a liter bike for the street, i've always liked the racing look, but a 600 needs to hit mid to high rpm to make some decent power, while something like my r1 just has that low end grunt from like 3000rpm, i can only imagine how torque-y the busa is with those extra 300cc's. easy to pass vehicles, also more engine braking which is fun in traffic too.
@Ritalie
@Ritalie 4 жыл бұрын
The problem with the 2nd generation Busa, is that it has lots of torque. But has horrendous gear ratios. It is geared for a race track, which doesn't make any sense. In top gear, the engine is turning about 4200 rpms at 70mph. I cannot understand why motorcycles don't come with an overdrive gear. They make an overdrive gear set for the Hayabusa. They also make different sprockets to make the top gear less obnoxious. All motorcycles are always under geared for some reason.

I grew up riding motorcycles and was often on my dads Gsxr-1000. I went to buy a first bike yesterday and sat on a 600, 750, 1000, and a BUSA. I ended up getting a 2007 gsxr-600. All I remember when sitting on the BUSA was “nope.” It instantly instilled fear in my soul and it wasnt even on…

You should put that kid on a Harley with a new Big Twin motor so he can feel the difference of the super low down torque of a Harley. There’s nothing else like twisting the throttle of a Harley and feeling that instant low down torque grunt. It feels like the hand of god is pushing you. I had a BMW s1000rr that had 200hp and that thing went, but it didn’t have that low down torque, even my s1000r with the de-tuned RR engine didn’t feel like it. They just feel totally different on how the power is delivered. A 131ci Harley is such a crazy feeling when you give it the beans.

I also want to just let people know, picking up a big bike isn't as hard as it seems either (usually). I ride my dad's 1978 Honda Cx500, and that bike weighs about 500 lbs on its own, and have embarrassingly, a couple times, had to pick it up on the road. As long as you have the handlebars locked as far towards the ground as possible, have your back against the bike, other hand on some sturdy part of the bike on the back (Frame, thick metal, etc.), and you use your knees, not back, too pivot the bike up, you should be fine. Key part is you're not actually lifting 500 lbs. You just want to lean the bike back up, which is a lot easier. (And yes, having more people than just yourself, will always make it much much easier to lift up the bike)

I love these big bikes. Many people think that they are scary and difficult to handle them. The truth is exactly the opposite. If you know what you are doing and dont go too crazy it is the easiest bike to handle.

I said the same thing, that's ridiculous. I wonder what his buddy thinks about being called a beginner. I hit my R3 hard and never dropped it for 2000 miles in 4 months before I went to a 600. Not every advancement is achieved only by time. Maybe that dude has 1000 miles under his belt, doubt it though. I bought my CBR600 from a guy that put a few hundred miles on it in a year. I did that in a week.

@@yammienoob Eh if he's ridden middle weight bikes moving on to a Busa should be pretty easy. As long as he's careful with the throttle it's no more dangerous than any 600 supersport. Hell I'd say some naked bikes like the Super Duke or the Tuono V4 are probably far less forgiving to a less experienced rider than a Hahabysa.

i don't know man. i grew up with dad being on a bike. when i was 6, we were cruising at 200kmh, around the country. He also had a Busa. Yeah, it's strong, but it's also pretty docile if you respect it. And by respect i mean, you don't send it like a moron. If you send it, even a 600cc is nuts. The GSXR-1000 is a lot more scary. I always enjoyed the busa. (being a pessanger that is)
