Don't pretend like you've never broken the law (intentionally or not). He was probably talking about a cop who pulled them over for not coming to a complete and total stop. We've all made mistakes: • Accidentally run a red light • Didn't see a vehicle in our blind-spot and started to change lanes • Didn't pay attention to the speed limit drop on a road, etc.

The more I do it the better it is for my health, but that doesn't mean I won't grab a slice of pizza every now and again. Also a lot of cops don't understand how a "stop-and-go" works for a motorcyclist at a stop sign even though I learned it as a safety technique in the MSF course from a State Trooper.

The "some car owners are raging on you because another biker pissed them off on another occasion" argument is bullshit. I just signed up for a motorcycle class 2 months from now, have never ridden or owned a bike. I've been a hard-core car guy my whole life and I'm 34. If someone road raged on me because "another guy in a different car pissed them off" I wouldn't take that as an acceptable excuse. Road rage isn't okay, ever, and as someone who has seen it happen to too many motorcyclists, who are way more vulnerable to injury and death than those of us in our cars, it has always made me upset. I lived in the SF Bay Area, where lane splitting is totally legal and on one occasion I literally watched a guy purposely swerve in front of motorcycles splitting lanes repeatedly, almost causing potentially fatal accidents. After the third time, when I was certain from observing him that he was doing it on purpose, I took my 1987 Mercedes 560sel, with all steel components weighing in at over 4000 pounds, and slowly and gently forced him off onto the shoulder. I got out of my car, walked back and informed him, "I've seen you trying to force collisions with motorcycles. I have front and rear dash cams that recorded everything. If you do it again, I'm calling CHP, reporting you for reckless endangerment and giving them the footage so they can prosecute you." I'm not arguing that riders shouldn't be careful and respectful on the roads, that's just common sense. But anyone willing to risk killing someone because they're "a little pissed off" is a dangerous maniac and shouldn't be behind the wheel. What if they had 1 too many pedestrians cross in front of them and decided they now have the right to run over someone's kids in a crosswalk? Would that be "understandable" because they were "upset"? That's why, just like how I've already bought a good helmet and protective gear in anticipation of getting my first bike, I've also invested in a helmet cam.

in my country (and many others) using your horn to ''signal'' or ''communicate'' is illegal. it's an emergency warning that is supposed to be used to avoid immediate accidents and nothing else(i don't think people get charged for it in reality though) but telling people to use their horn instead of their engine noise to make themselves heard isn't the best idea
