Just my opinion...I'm 100% in support of no names. I believe fans get names to specify the player they support. Clemens, Bader, Ellsbury, and Soto all have worn 22 over the last 2 decades. Soto fans want to support Soto, so they get the named jersey.

I recently bought a bootleg 22 road grey jersey that has no name. I realized after the fact that Soto never had or will wear a jersey like it (in the near future as far as we know) because it is the road grey with the white outline/piping. No biggie, it's a Soto jersey in my heart but could also be a Clemens or Posada (he wore 22 in 1997) jersey.

so I'm actually not a Yankee fan or even a new Yorker i just enjoy the show.. but anyway my aunt used to work for majestic and asked what jersey i wanted. Randy Johnson had just signed n that's my guy so i picked him. not only was the name on the jersey but i told her he was #51 😭😭 iykyk. a shame too cuz the jersey was beautiful and very official. the touch of it was so smooth but ya couldn't even wear it

I don't have as much of an issue with it when it comes to legacy players. Most casual fans aren't as knowledgeable about the history of the sport, especially younger fans, so it's actually educational to display the retired number with the associated name so that people learn to appreciate what came before. I actually have a home DiMaggio jersey in the modern style that a friend gifted me. At first I recoiled, but then as I got to thinking, I realized what I wrote above. I also own a personalized home jersey with my own name and number. (I used A-Rod's number, since it's not retired and people hate him, so I can get away with it, lol) People always ask me who the name is for, and they get impressed when I say it's mine. But when it comes to active players, I absolutely agree that Yankee replica jerseys should not have names. So many players come and go anyway, that any jersey with a name quickly becomes outdated. For example: I have a nameless #0 Yanks road jersey that I got when Adam Ottavino was on the team. Talk about a wise investment. I've been able to repurpose it for him, then Domingo Germán, and now Marcus Stroman. Any fan who knows the current team will immediately be able to connect with it. I'm planning on getting a road jersey in the new style with Sóto's number at some point. I wouldn't dare have his name on it. (Imagine if I had gotten one last year with Bader's name? Talk about a waste of money.)

I can accept the t-shirts with the name and number on the back. I personally wouldn't wear it,but at least I get it. It is a really cheap alternative. And perfect for casual fans. But if you're buying an actual jersey and have the name on the back, Don's right and I question how big a fan you are. No actual fan needs to be made aware who wore 7, 4, 23, 15, 51, 21, etc.
