Yankee Jim Canyon Whitewater Rafting

The Yellowstone river outside of Bozeman flows through some of the most beautiful country in the United States and has stretches of whitewater for all levels of rafters and boaters. Because we had a beginner rafter in our midst we decided to start on the more mellow side and hit up the Yankee Jim section on our way to Yellowstone National Park. This mostly class II stretch had a few rapids of note at this water level but it was perfect for building skills and practicing for bigger stuff.

hey thanks! I honestly have no idea what CFS it was anymore. I usually put the CFS in the description, but I messed up and didn't this time! whoops. haha

Are you liking that sawyer freefall? Just picked one up.

Yeah! I love the Sawyer Freefall! It is really stiff, which is great for quick and precise moves. The only struggle I've had with it is that because the blade is so stiff, the water pressure can push it against rocks and it will actually get stuck and slide right out of your hands! It's like a water monster just comes out of nowhere and grabs your paddle. haha but I've never had it happen in a rapid, only riffles. But beware! Hold on to that darn thing!
