Good demonstration of biomechanics. What he's doing looks like hocus pocus, but it's actually very scientific. It's not only internal martial arts, we have the same thing in Choy Li Fut, a hard style. What's basically happening is that he's practiced for so long he is sensitive enough to read the tension in the other person. It's pure physics, nothing magical about it.

Biomechanics, basic physics being applied makes it look like magic but it's applied physics.

cutting the root is what the internal arts "should" excell at... :) if the opponent is not relaxed and if i am relaxed ... and i am "fast" ... i can have the upper hand. Relaxed = Song = Release = understanding Structure thereby knowing the others persons structure by feeling thier root ... In my limited view... its all about approaching at least when it comes to "Wrestling" or close up close contact sparing where you are in a clinch now or grapple... If you know the equation and the other person doesnt... and ytou can then kinda contnrol their balance. I think its really fascinating. Tensing up is the enemy essentially... In grappling at least. But also.. we think about this.... Less tension = Greater speed. Bruce lee taught this for incredibly fast strikes... This is if you are at a certain distance where its striking distance however dont be fooled... even close up in grapple.. you can strike still in soft areas with "Song" and penetration ... from relaxed state. Man i love this stuff. thanks for the video again .. And to learn one must loose all ego ... loose all you think you know... be humble, be willing even if you are a "teacher" to want to learn more and be better ... dont ever think you know it all ... thats the real enemy..

The physical force vectors Yap uses change and this accounts more for the difference in the response you see in his partners, than the woo woo. For example, in some of the demonstrations he is pushing nearly horizontally then changes to a downward vector using his body weight. Yeah, there are elements to do with relaxing and opening the joints to facilitate the linkages in applying a physical force and giving someone your weight, but it is still a physical force and can be totally explained by physics and mechanics. The woo woo is just marketing. In an actual conflict with an active aggressor in motion, this type of stuff has minimal import and simply won't work as shown.

@Nikoo033
@Nikoo033 Жыл бұрын
@@bobbobbing4381 I disagree. A lot of excellent Muay Thai or MMA fighters are actually using those principles, without necessarily knowing it. Watch Saenchai winning fights against bigger opponents most of his career. That’s not because he has more muscular mass, that’s because of his ability to use most of his mass in his techniques, his timing and his ability to “read” his opponents physically, in particular during clinching, which is basically chi sau (or sticking hands).

Kung is just good for doing film, exercises or fight someone in the streets who are bullies, but not as competitive sports like UFC, MMA and Thai boxing. I hope one day I can watch a kung fu fighter who knock out the UFC. So far, the only way they can win is to fight a fake UFC fighter.
@michaelcecon8476
@michaelcecon8476 Жыл бұрын
I would not make that assertion. Boxers / UFC FIghters may exhibit a certain level of toughness; however, once you have internalized the forms, believe me, or leave it be; it becomes challenging for any martial artist. There are forms in Kung Fu that are oriented solely toward destruction. Nevertheless, these are not taught in student or beginner levels.

Sooo you are shaming him, because he uses the metaphors used by his ancestors (I'm also talking his dad and granddad) teaching him the skill how to align his body? He probably doesn't even know about the physics behind it. Most boxers proably don't even understand how exactly their punches work. The chinese culture for the most part does have a very different way to view the world and therefore explain what is going on. You don't need to know or understand the physics of fire to make something burn. The use of fire is much older than any theory in physics. Humans had all sort of narratives why it works. Close enough to make it work and still having the wrong explanation of why ot really does @@文哥-i4e Even modern physics knows about enregie and how it works, but has no idea, what exactly energy is.
