Cool! It is a great looking razor and it looks awesome with the handle you paired it with. I am impressed with Yaqi as a company lately as they've put in the work into making some great products. I'm fine with cast products, but stainless steel is really nice and I think that the price difference in the manufacturing process ends up about the same. It's also great that they are using feedback to tweek and improve their products. It won't be long before they get in a good designer and add some tweeks in the finishing process and they'll be able to compete with any razor company in the market. That's a benefit to everyone, even the high-end razor companies. Competition has a way in bringing out the best in people and we'll all enjoy even better, higher quality, and more innovative products.

Great Razor review on the Yaqi Mellon head Version2 stainless steel model. I bought one also and I will be using it next week according to Canada post. Mellon Zamak razor head Version 1 gap was around .25mm where the Mellon SS Version head 2 has a .4mm gap as you have mentioned Subie that allows slightly more aggression and the top cap shape also changed slightly when comparing the 2 side by side. Good to see your happy with it and I'm sure I will be also. Not many reviews on this head yet because it is so new and glade you had one to show us how it performs head shaving. Have some great shaves!

I own both versions and both are great, but the stainless steel version just looks and feels better. I also own the chippendale handle but I don't really like it. Currently I'm using the stainless mellon on the maggards razors MR5 handle and I very much prefer this handle over the chippendale. More weight, more heft, feels better balanced. Especially with a mild razor like the mellon, I appreciate the additional weight. The mellon is a gem, even though it is very mild you can still feel the blade very well and also have good audible feedback. With an astra or a feather and the heavy handle, it is very efficient. Not as close a shave as with the YTAS, but close enough and much more relaxed.

I tried to show MANY different angles and talk about the differences starting @4:26 👍❤️ Let me know if that helps my friend 👍 Fairly different razors, the Mellon seems less angle dependent, with similar blade feel, and different ergonomics. Personally I didn't care for the original Mellon but this one - this one is VERY good in my opinion. Beautiful polish, can be ordered as just a head (which I like) and at a price point that is darn near unbelievable in my opinion for the quality. Thanks so much for the comment!

Which cuts closer to the Melon SS or Slant Slope SS?

Great question, and again, hard to really compare when one is a slant and the other is not. Personally - I am liking this Mellon more, it's lighter, has a thinner head profile, and with the increased gap it's a very good shaver for me. The new V2 Mellon is quickly becoming one of my all time favorite Yaqi razors in fact. Comparing them, both are solid as far as closeness goes, I just feel like the Mellon is more fun to use and I love it's aesthetic. Thanks again for the comment!

Really hard question here 😆 I love the fact that the eclipse is now available for the Modern shaver - but the Mellon with the updated gap is probably the one I'd choose. It's smooth for me at all different angles, and is actually quite fun to use. I love my eclipse - and really appreciate the quantum, but the Mellon is a FABULOUS shaver in my humble opinion. Same combo with Chippendale handle ( the balance and weight are perfect, like you said) and Med Preps....The shaves are beyond belief!....superb! Effortless, efficient X10...super smooth results ...it gets everything. I can truly say this razor is top-tier in performance (plus amazing looks!) It can hold its own against the very best out there!
