Lawn is looking awesome bro! And that back yard - I love the attitude you have about it - just keep it looking awesome and let the dog and kid have their fun too. It will be interesting to see how it holds up as summer comes along - I bet that bermuda will put up a good fight!!!!

Thanks Allyn! The bermuda will definitely win the war back there. It’s a constant battle but it will get to looking mostly normal. I actually like mowing back there a lot more just because there aren’t any obstacles. See you in the lawn!

I just used a YM starter fertilizer on my 16k sqft new lawn seeding down here in Texas, I’m hoping for some good results. I went with YM because of all the different nutrients that are in all the fertilizers. I really like what they have to offer. I did a humic, biochar, fert mix with a little top soil and a little peat moss. If grass doesn’t grow I guess I’ll give up 😂

Sounds like you’ve thrown the kitchen sink at it! Hope you see good results!

@@LawnInsider good new, seeded on April 7th idk what the hell highlander Bermuda is but its growing in nicely , yesterday was the 25th and I had to do a mow. Little Bermuda is still to short but everything else was growing like crazy from the rain we’ve had. I have another bag of highlander seed and plan to spread that once I see a good 10 day forecast with some rain because watering 3 times a day for the past 18 days or so was rough without irrigations. Next time I seed in probably may I’ll buy much more peat moss. The areas with the most peat moss did the best at holding the seed from heavy rains.

Great channel and content. I am in the DFW area and recently scalped my Bermuda and am getting ready to fertilize. My question is if I should use the Yard Mastery Starter fertilizer or start with the Flagship fertilizer? I am not 100% clear as to when to use the Starter fertilizer. Thank You
@LawnInsider Жыл бұрын
Last year I used the Starter fert at the beginning of the year just to give the lawn a shot of all the macros to start the season. Then as the year progressed I switched to a higher N %.

This may sound stupid but you said the yard always responds to "real rain" as opposed to the irrigation system (which we have as well). What's the reasoning behind that? Are there different minerals or something in rainwater that is better than tap water?? I live in Arlington, so north of you, but this Texas weather has been brutal with no rain.
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
I'm sure it comes down to added minerals and chemicals, and possibly pH balance. Rain will also give you more even coverage than your irrigation system!

Hi! I always thought striping was not achievable with bermuda, any tips on achieving stripes? :-) Thanks!
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
Bermuda definitely doesn’t stripe like rye or KBG, but you can get some nice stripes burnt in. The key for me is that my mower is heavy (200+ lbs) and has a rear roller instead of wheels. The weight of the mower pushes the grass down in whichever direction you’re mowing. The reflection of the sunlight is then going to give you the striped look. I’ll try and make a striping video sometime this year!
@frank360d2 жыл бұрын
@@LawnInsider good point about the heavier mower, I think my reel may only be closer to 100lbs. looking forward to the video!

Can you half and half flagship and double dark to get more iron?

How are you able to mow so good and close to your home, obstacles and the driveway without damagingly you blades? I have the greensmaster 1600 and it is NOT agile and the weight doesn’t help either, lol!
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
My driveway sits a little below the level of my lawn, so that’s how I get around this edges. As far as around the house I just get as close as I can and use my power rotary scissors for everything I can’t get to with the mower.

How often should I water a one month old hydroseed Bermuda in 95Fahrenheit in Texas,
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
I don’t have any experience with hydroseeding, but if it’s similar to other seeding projects you need to be keeping the soil moist until the seed establishes. With all the heat I would imagine you need to be watering every day.

Which one is your favorite? I heard that people like the flagship and stress blend a lot.
@LawnInsider2 жыл бұрын
Flagship is my primary fertilizer for the season, but I will say that I applied the Stress Blend a couple of weeks ago under some very stressful conditions in the lawn (100+ daily highs and only getting water once every other week with no rain) and the lawn has responded really well. Those would be my picks as well. Although I haven't even used the Double Dark yet.
