Nicole Tu it's yarn over, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in back. This sounds like the maneuver between two brks in brioche so you should find demos in brioche videos. Basically you yo (yf for English style knitters) and then slip the next stitch from the left needle tip to the right with the tips pointing toward eachother (insert the right tip as if you were going to purl but instead of purling simply remove the left tip from the stitch). The result will be a regular stitch crossed by a yarn over making an "X" on the right needle. If doing brps, do yrn instead of yf. Brk = brioche knit and brp = brioche purl.

I am thoroughly confused, your way seems so different, what is the purpose of completely wrapping the yarn around the needle ? You are very precise , good instruction however I missed something.
