This is so true for me too. I’m a beginner and don’t always pay attention to how I’m doing my stitches. Sometimes, I randomly change the style I’m crocheting in because it feels “different,” kind if like how if you say a word too many times, it starts to feel off. 😂 So I 100% believe I mix my stitches. My ADHD brain has no less than 10 different things flying past my frontal love per second, so I crochet mostly by muscle memory. Unless, of course, I’m doing something new for the first time. But after I get the hang of it, my mind wanders, and I couldn’t tell you which stitch style I do. 😂 Pretty sure I mix the styles frequently. I also use large stitches (like double and treble crochets) because I prefer to crochet clothing rather than amigurumi, so in my experience, double crochets and larger don’t look that different yarn under vs. yarn over. But I’m still a n00b so what do I know. 😅

For beginners yarn under might be little bit tricky because you use less yarn, but you can give it a try and see how it goes. At the end of the day it’s just matter of preference really, but the important thing is that your piece is made with all the same technique, don’t alternate them, because the shape of the stitches will be different and the final result might look weird ☺️
@AsteroidB6120

@@AsteroidB6120 it’s really a matter of preference. To be honest I rarely use yarn under, I personally don’t mind yarn over and my stitches are still good and consistent.
