I'm not surprised at all. As much as I dislike the Tau, they do offer the normal man a better life. And Yarrick is a pragmatic man. He wouldn't hesitate to do what he thought was best. He may not personally like it, but he is loyal to his core.

The comparison is perhaps more accurate than even you realize, but there is one glaring difference that can never be overlooked, only through the Imperium is the continuation of the Human species guaranteed, to serve the Tau Empire is to surrender the survival of your species to the whims of another.

It would probably be worth it if the tau could do it, survival is absolutely vital. But they can't. The tau don't have a clue what their galaxy is like. Not just the other species but it's crazed underlying rules that contradict themselves for the fun of it. The greater good is doomed. The tau will either die following it, or abandon it as they become the next imperium. Never forget that mankind once followed their path to an even greater height before it all went so very wrong.
@antonscott15854 ай бұрын
In the case of the Imperium, if it survived it guarantees the survival of one species, but the extermination of all others. And as the video shows it does not care at all if it's a prosperous humanity or a suffering one, or it might prefer that humanity is downtrodden as to easier suppress them. If the Tau Empire survives it guarantees the survival and prosperity of all it's members. While self determination is good it's not offered by either side really.

@@antonscott1585Imperium is humanity, simply one of its iterations. When its no longer needed it will be torn apart by the same forces that made it and let humanity “go free” even if by accident. Tau Empire will never let humanity reach its full potential, because it was not built to eventually unravel.
@antonscott15854 ай бұрын
@@MrVlad12340 The Imperium is not Humanity no matter how much it tries to convince everyone that it is. There are stellar nations outside of it. Humanity is also constantly trying to escape the Imperium and when they do the Imperium brings as much fighting power it can spare to put the separatists down, beat them up and enslave any who survives. The very nature of the Imperium also breads chaos cults with their suppressive nature. The Imperium is not designed to collapse, it is doing so and when/if it does collapse all that awaits mankind then will be a thusand warlords fighting over it's corpse. If you look at it that way you might as well say something like "When the galaxy is united underneath the greater good then the non-tau may step up and take their place as our equals in the galaxy" or some variation of that. Using a hypothetical like that is a weak argument and if we delve into that the possibilities are endless. And lets also reiterate the Imperium exterminates every other sentient race it encounters, with some few exceptions with some major caviats. No matter how much of a non-threat they are the Imperium will kill all of a species if they find them and can spare the manpower. The Imperium will not let any other race reach their full potential either, because they will kill all of them. At least with the Tau Imperium most races have a future.

I like this a ton cause it readdresses the flaws of the Imperium drastically, I typically hear from Imperial fanatics talking points as "Ethereals uses pheromones it isn't a true empire" but so what? Is it worser than psycho-indoctrination in widespread use. Or Psycho-drugs to break someone down past the point of being a blank canvas to become a assassin or a repentant pawn for some shortsighted gain? The Tau Empire is the closes thing we had to the Federation of Man or Human Empires that prospered and were wiped out during the Great Crusade only to become a backwater with no resources due to Terra hoarding everything like a proverbial Dragon of the Cave. Hoarding riches to itself and doing *nothing* with it other than to rest on it's degenerating laurels. And I fully expect Guilliman to fail, for it was already set to stone by letting the Imperial Creed to continue on without making maneuvers to weaken or implement a vasty overhauled Truth just like how he did an overhaul on the Astartes with the Primaris. He had to clean house with taking out Nobels without actually cleaning up their household acts and instead went on yet another Crusade which keeps getting sidetracked. If that isn't a recipe for failure by attrition I don't know what is.

You missing the core point - subjugation (willing or not) by any other species is an end of the greatest claim to the Galaxy.
