Just made this today for my family and it was such a hit! I lived in Dakar for 7 years, but I was always overwhelmed by how long it took to make Senegalese food, so I never cooked them. Finally mustered up the courage to do this, you made it look so easy and it was. Thank you!

It's fascinating how similiar this is to Filipino Adobo. It's even more fascinating to me (personally) that my 82-year-old black grandma used to make something extremely similar (she'd actually use Turkey wings instead of chicken) that we'd eat with rice.

Hello Lola! I am new to Senegalese food. Is there a reason why your yassa looks brown while in the other recipes it looks yellow?
@eliel-salomezahiri67833 жыл бұрын
The oil was already dark because of chicken residues. That’s why she got the brown colour. Be rest assured, it doesn’t change the taste of it, quite the contrary! 😉

@diopfifi49372 жыл бұрын
Do not use apple cider vinegar in yassa. We do not put it in our yassa in Senegal. Use use lemon 🍋 juice. Buy the fresh lemons and squeeze them. Use about 4 lemons

Le yassa est un plat qui vient du sud du sénégal, Ziguinchor tu as sauté une partie : juste la grillade😊... yassa signifie griller en créole...sinon félicitation et bonne continuation 😊
