@@claybomb1064 ofc, nothing a little duct tape can't fix. XD. I just got a 2 pedal setup for racing and plan to route map those analog inputs in elite, assuming I have enough usb ports to connect all my input devices and don't get locked out by some driver shenanigans... It's alot of setup to do all this in vr, but man, it's pretty next level...

absolutely dig the yaw VR. but it does not add enough value for me to pay the premium that this chair costs. But on the other hand, I just spend $3189 on a designer chair for my office. I'm sure my kids would have picked the YawVR if I asked them!

Great job getting everything working. I got my YawVR specifically for use with Elite Dangerous. Is it better to first get familiar with Elite Dangerous game without the YawVR to lessen to complexity of the setup? I'm still learning the game as it is pretty involved and not like a simple shooter arcade game.

First of all, I'd like to thank you for making this video. I just got my Yaw VR a few days ago and your instructions on how to get it working with Elite Dangerous have been really helpful. That being said, I cannot get the motion simulation working with ED. The Yaw works fine in test mode, I'm calibrating the Yaw, starting the game engine, starting Elite, but once inside the game the Yaw doesn't move no matter what I'm doing with the ship. Any ideas what's wrong?
@claybomb10644 жыл бұрын
Did you get it working? How do you like your yaw?
@williamlamb30284 жыл бұрын
@@claybomb1064I did get it working. The problem was that the memory hook for Elite Dangerous was broken. A few days later I got an update for the game plugin and it started working. Unfortunately, things still aren't going very well. Even while using the motion compensation, I still seem to end up out of alignment and if the Yaw reaches the end of its travel, it 'bucks' instead of quietly going back to its center point. But even when I'm not having those problems, playing ED in YawVR doesn't really add to the immersion. In fact, it subtracts from it. I feel like the chair is moving around underneath me in some unaccountable manner that has nothing to do with what's going on in the game. I'm fighting my seat at the same time I'm fighting space pirates. Since my HOTAS and everything is connected to it, I ended up just unplugging the Yaw and using it as a seat without the motion. Basically, an expensive armchair. I'm going to take one more serious run at calibration and setup to see if I can find a group of settings that I can live with. If I can't, I'll sell it and get something else. I'm not sure if I would even do motion compensation again. Maybe just put a buttkicker on a decent office chair and call it a day.
@claybomb10644 жыл бұрын
@@williamlamb3028 Thanks for the info. Hopefully you can get it all dialed in. Some people really seem to like it but there are mixed reviews. I’ve gone the buttkicker route for now and it definitely added to the immersion.

@@williamlamb3028 I've been discuraged by the loud vibration sound, is it noticeable with headphones?
@williamlamb30284 жыл бұрын
@@brosquito7483 Are you asking about the loud vibration sound of the buttkicker, or Yaw's built in vibration? If it's the buttkicker, clay bomb is the one who has that, not me. If it's Yaw's vibration, I found it so annoying that I turned it off in the SRS panel. There was no subtlety to it, it was either on or off and nothing about it seemed realistic at all. Please note that these criticisms are all from playing Elite Dangerous. I'm not sure to what extent the shortcomings of my experience with the Yaw are due to it, and to what extent it's the fault of ED not really supporting telemetry.

I don't think this should even be used for Elite Dangerous. Our Commanders don't seem to be effected by G forces if you look at external camera while moving. I'm not sure if they explained it in one of the books, but we probably can't use frame shift drive if we were affected by g forces or we would end up passing out. I think this would make more sense in simulators like DCS World, Microsoft Flight Simulator or even a roller coaster simulator.
