Thanks so much for doing what you do! I will be taking Math 141 this semester. I'm an older college student, I have had college algebra before, but it was a summer session which was bad. The professor gave us so much information so fast it was hard to keep up with everything. This time I just want to be more ready for math. Anyways, you are very helpful at helping to reduce my fear of math:-) I know right it is just numbers, but if you don't know or not sure what you are doing....Then you end up with math anxiety lol. Thank you again!

Shouldn't y2 be 3, not 7? in the example with the variable a? 3-7=4 rather than 7-3=4. Doesn't matter in this equation though.

the square after that makes it correct both ways, I guess that's what he meant by you can exchange x1 and x2

Hi Abdinasir! Thanks for asking. The access codes are right in the line above the quiz.

@ 17:58 there's a mistake !! it should be (a-7)(a+1)???????
@robithevampire8 жыл бұрын
It's not a mistake. To get a, transpose -7 to the other side. Thus, (a-7) makes a=7. Same with (a-1).

The examples are great just a lot of noise and yelling in the background. If you can filter out the extra stuff, the video works as a great resource.
@maryloubrennan10318 жыл бұрын
onlylikeacruzancan I think it's supposed to be like that so you feel as if you are in a real classroom setting. I feel this is what differentiates yaymath from other math videos. Especially when he interacts with the students and answers their questions, because that could be a question that someone viewing the video could have. I absolutely love yaymath!

Why did you bother foiling the (a-4)^2? Why not just square both sides and get rid of the square root here? The equation then turns into: 25 = (a-4)^2 + (7-3)^2 25 = (a-4)^2 + 16 simplify 9 = (a-4)^2 subtract 16 from both sides 3 = a-4 or -3 = a-4 square root both sides remembering that everything has 2 square roots 7 = a or 1 = a add 4 to both sides No need to foil. No need to factor. Fewer steps.

I feel for these kids when they go to college, it will be rush rush, no questions and no time to write it down! I would suggest to them to only write the key things down, like points of interest of what is being taught, it will give them more time to listen and understand the professor! I see some people tying to write down everything that the professor says or puts on the board and they learn nothing, my way you get to watch the whole lesson and since you took little notes you can go back after class and study those topics on your own using what you learned in the class! xD
@tessiesanders15 жыл бұрын
It is ALWAYS BEST to DIFFERENTIATE instruction for those learners that may need to complete each step. Example: One should stick to procedure when baking a cake. Meaning, you would not skip a step.
