Garbage video? This is the most beautifully tragic and raw video I've ever watched, not to mention the fact that it is so skillfully directed and edited. It shows this small community of people, all having these inappropriate sexual fantasies about that girl, thinking they own her. When she creates her own sacrilegious relationship in reality, they feel betrayed and they burn her alive, next to her lover's dead body, blinded by their lust, their jealousy and their weaknesses. True masterpiece.

Great symbolism. as well as backwards timeline. We all dance with sin, tango with the devil so to speak. And yet we are so quick to condemn once somebody else is caught under the starlight. We watch as people no worse than us are condemned for their actions in cowardly hypocrisy. And our false purity only leaves us feeling worse than the devils we burned.

Ok let me see if I understand this: the blonde was cheating on her husband with the pastor but the whole town wanted her for themselves. Angry at her for choosing the pastor over themselves and covering up their own impure desires for a married woman, they kill her and the pastor. The images of them sleeping around with her were their desires, but not what actually happened as shown with her constantly changing personality whenever she's with each one of them, Deep stuff. Did I get that right?
@Ripcode22338919 жыл бұрын
+Sam Dav Yeah. Holy shit this was good. The reason for her burning is not because they think him and her committed blasphemy, but just because of the secret anger they hold. Religion here is just the guise they choose to hide under.

+Sam Dav After reading your comment I noticed the order of people she's cheating with and the order of people she passes when walking down the aisle and the fact that we never see the husband anywhere except for the vow kiss... All of it was their imagination, and it would be all okay except for pastor even thinking it... 'cause it's sacrilege!
@silverbat58739 жыл бұрын
+Sam Dav Actually I see it more like ALL of it was their images of her and their own desires, they are so insecure and jealous and ashamed of their own desires and she is actually purer than them and finds real love so they have to sacrifice her innocence to make themselves feel more pure.

@gena46383 жыл бұрын
@@thehummingbird8790 I agree that the video is open to interpretation. I also agree with both of yours. I think the video is an interesting, twisted plot about sin, sex and hypocrisy. I noticed, the preacher is the guy who the townsfolk masked, chased and shot. The girl escaped out of the back of the house to no avail because she ends up tied to a stake and being burnt with her dead lover/preacher. So the mob mentality was that her act of sex with the preacher was "sacrilegious" maybe? Even though they all engaged in the same behavior? I'd love to hear Karen O's take on it. So far I haven't found anything online with her talking about her ideas for this video. Either way, I love it!

This video is still so amazing. It's like they are all so HYPED at the "end" literally because she died for their sins- they all felt guilty for having sex with a married woman and felt like murdering her for having sex with the preist vindicated them... but also they are mad because she had sex with another besides them but also they're upset a person they loved died. The priest is possibly the most pure of any of them, he is young and who knows if he was a virgin or not- just speculation on my part but you get the idea. Originally I thought he was tranquilized but no, that's a shot gun and he's dead being burned at the stake with her. Don't cheat, but also don't slut shame. I like how this video shows the different facets of this girls personality came out with her different partners.

Theory: None of the sex scenes shown in this video actually happened. The scenes were just the secret sexual fantasies these various townsfolk had about her in their own minds. Yet despite her having nothing to do with it and probably having no idea these people even wanted her, they privately hated and blamed HER for their own lust for her. Either because they knew she would never be with them, as represented by the disinterest or outright contempt on her face during the sex scenes. Or because the very attraction they felt for her was a source of shame to them, as in the woman being ashamed of her secret lesbianism/bisexuality. What *actually* happened was, she married her husband in the church, and some time later she was caught cheating on him with the guy in the mask. The towns elders, enraged at her "sacrilege", decided to burn her at the stake as punishment. In so doing, they subconsciously hoped to purge themselves of their own lusts, and/or get revenge on her for being unobtainable by them. The video represents the dangers of mob justice or cancel culture. How the people pointing fingers and demonizing someone else are usually far more corrupt than their scapegoat.

I think that was heavily implied. I made the same comment years ago. If you look at the flashbacks, Lily Cole had different personalities for each affair. None of them are real. They're all fantasies - and to them, their fantasies are fine. Things are different when it was with the priest, which was the only real affair, a sacrilege.

To me, this story tells me that the girl and the priest are being burned for committing a sin. I don't think any of the players that are in this video fessed up to having slept with the girl themselves. It's more about the hypocrisy of condemning someone for something you're an active participant in.

Watching this drunk got me confused more than it should, then I come up with the idea maybe the plot was reversed. Now watching it again sore head, this is one of the best clips I've ever seen. Why haven't I seen it before man this clip is pure beauty

After watching this video several times its interesting how she is the scapegoat for everyones sin, so by burning her they are trying to free them selfs of sin but there act is a sin so they will never be free. All she did was provide little temptation they were the true fallen ones since they couldn't turn from temptation. But they would have us think she is in the wrong when she is just base noting more, they are the sinners not her.

my god listen for the first time, and I´m alredy obsessed about this whole vampire, sacrilege, dark romance vibe. It would fit so well on The Vampire Diaries or Twilight, I simply loved it!
