You are very lucky to be gifted one. I have been in contact with skil and they cannot give an estimated date for UK availability stating "keep checking screwfix availability as they are our only UK seller" Meanwhile screwfix have told me that they have no plans to stock this table saw and will register enquiries and assess if it's something they might decide to stock. So for me it's time to save a bit more and get an alternative, but definitely not a dewalt.

Hey. - Just wanted to let you know that i've had this saw for about half a year now. I use it daily, and i found a few small drawbacks. 1. It doesn't have a soft start, like much other saws. 2. The tilt mechanism doesn't have a way to easily adjust. I prefer to have a knob to turn, to really dial in the perfect angle for cutting. 3. The clearance insert is too floppy.. It's too soft and even with adjustments, it's not really good. So maybe a custom insert is one of the early projects if you buy this saw. But all in all, this is still by far the best tablesaw i have had. Super happy about it, especially the super precise fence. I would highly recommend this saw, especially considering the prize! PS. I am waiting patiently on episode 7 on 1p to 1000, super good seriest! Keep up the good work mate :)

I'm a novice woodworker and picked this up as my first table saw after a lot of research for under $300. The fence is not quite vertical. The table is not quite flat. The throat plate does indeed flex a LOT, like an eighth down in the center if you press on it. I was aware of these drawbacks before buying and I was happy to pay for the performance, toolless adjustments and safety feature set. I attached the arbor wrenches to the power plug to be certain I'm never using them plugged in. It claims 4x4 rip capacity but the teeth just barely clear the wood and I wasn't able to do that safely, I instead ripped slightly less than half through, flipped it, ripped the other half, cleaned up the small bit of remaining wood

I bought this saw in New Zealand several months ago. It's excellent and has plenty of power when using a dado stack. There is a couple of differences between the US and EU/AU/NZ models. US model has an included anti kickback pawl but doesn't have the straight dust extraction step down nozzle. I bought the Skil anti kickback pawl and its storage bracket from US eBay cheap as chips. The anti kickback pawl storage bracket screws in just behind the storage clamp for the dust extraction nozzles. You will see two screw bosses for it located there.

I've had this saw for about a year. I agree with the comments about the throat plate. But I'm really glad i waited (accidentally) for this to be available rather than getting one of the other cheap table saws. As a beginner I've not found myself fighting with it too much after the day i spent getting it all square to start with. The modifications I've made are a sturdy base for it because it does rock a bit with the big stuff especially when it's a long beam (2metres plus), a new mitre gauge and a quick throat plate. Next stop a new blade once I work out what fits the riving knife

@@sumeraybuilds yes I used a piece of 1/2 inch ply and then chiseled the underside to fit. It’s not perfect but it works and now I’m a bit better I should probably do another one. I’m in New Zealand so we don’t have a great deal of choice and we get gouged on prices so once I found the options here were either real junk or too expensive I didn’t feel too bad going the Bangood route. I got the WNew one and for me it’s pretty good. It’s solid heaps of positive stops and it has those washer bits you tighten to fit in the groove.

I have this saw, and I actually have it mounted to a rolling cart. I made a cabinet out of plywood w/ three drawers and double locking casters. I have two rails that run front to back on the cart. The rails lock the front and back of the saw in place w/ the legs folded up. It's not bolted down, and transport the saw if needed. I used painters tape on the miter gauge to remove the slack while in the miter slot. I used some 3/4" plywood and made a small sled 13" long x 11" deep and the just attached the fence to the miter gauge. So if I need to remove it, I just loosen the two screws on the fence, and it's just a miter gauge again. My biggest complaint is that my fence doesn't sit 90 degrees to the table. I was able to shim it on one end and get it aligned a little better, but my fence has a slight bulge in the middle, and I only notice when I'm cutting stock thicker than 2"... and it's loud. Really loud. Screaming loud. But I'm really glad to have it because I couldn't afford the Dewalt :D

I bought this last last March and have used it a few times a week since then. I've made furniture, cutting boards, and ripped long oak trim pieces on it. It's really a fantastic saw for the money. I paid $330 for it after tax, and the comparable DeWalt 10" is about $480 and close to $600 with the rolling stand, so nearly double. Overall, I'm really happy with it. It's loud as heck (but all the universal motor saws are), but it's ripped through basically everything I've thrown at it. My only real complaint is that the included throat plate is terrible. It's poorly supported around the blade so as you push a piece through, downward pressure will cause the insert to deform and change the angle of your piece against the blade. I bought some cheap MDF CNC inserts off Amazon to fix it. They required some modification as the captive riving-knife mount is quite bulky, but it's resolved the issue nearly completely. Also, if you're in the US, you can mount a dado stack on it which is very useful. A lot of budget job site saws don't have this as a feature.

I'm finally feeling like I'll need to use it, so there's no more avoiding it 😅 It's also good to know that you can push a pin through the little lid on the on/off button, so it can't be turned on at all (which could bring ease of mind with kids around). I believe you can also calibrate the removable red cap at the blade to get it even with the table. Yours showed a gap I believe.

A great saw for the price(got mine for $269) It claims a 3 1/2" cutting depth, mine will cut a full 3 5/8" I had to adjust the blade a tiny bit to make it 90 degrees and the riving knife I tweaked just a little. The blade was square to the fence out of the box. It'll resaw 7 1/4" pressure treated like it's butter. I built a higher fence jig for resawing, and with the rack and pinion adjustment it was really easy to do. It's light and portable with the folding legs; you can easily slide it into the back of an SUV and store it in a very small space.

I purchased this saw a year ago and was very happy but about 10 months in the motor is failing and the bolts for the tilt/lift mechanism and toolless blade adjustment unthread during use causing the blade to come out of square while operating. This is all covered under warranty but the first place Skil had me bring the saw to had it for 2 weeks before letting me know that they no longer work with Skil and to pick up my saw. The second shop said it was absolutely sure that it would be a full replacement. With that feedback, Skill will process a replacement but at this point I've been without a saw for over a month. Between the early failures and difficulties in executing the warranty I can't recommend the saw which was otherwise a pleasure to use. I would have loved to upgrade to their 10" worm drive model in hopes that it's more robustly built but understandably there's no upgrade option in their warranty/replacement plan. Buyers beware.

I swapped the machine 3 times and every replacement had the same distorted table casting. The distortions run in a number of directions, and the height of the table on either side of the insertion plate differ!! I cannot therefore use it for basic joinery operations. Can you comment on the table of the SKIL machine? I know it won't be machined flat for this price, but have you put a metal rule along the table at various angles to verify the flatness. I would be very interested to know. Thanks for an excellent video.

Hard to find blades from what I hear now don’t know if I need the dado I am brand new to wood working and never owned a table saw was looking for a saw that I could use for 2 or 3 years and then upgrade. Great table saw..have done 3 house renovations with it.. mainly used for flooring and trims. I love the dials and rails etc on it gives you that workshop accuracy and experience wherever you set this thing up.. 2 downsides for me though. That noise it produces is extreme.. almost unbearable. Really wished it has a less noisy engine. Perhaps i would even say its a bit overpowered for the job you present it too. 2nd i would say that i think the dust extraction could be better. When I bought it though i got a great bargain deal on it and the shop gave me like 30% off since it was their display unit. For 200euro this thing is amazing, but because of its noise i choose lighter tools to get the job done unless I can't get around it. For example my jobs Makita mitre saw is much much friendlier for the neighbours 😅 ..sound isn't normally something we get to experience before buying.. otherwise i may have looked further.

Good review! I can't decide between this, the SPT99T-01 or even the SPT99-11. I have their SPT77WML-01 and love how quiet and powerful the worm drive is. With space constraints, the SPT99T-01 is looking like the favourite at the moment. First world problems...

@sumeraybuilds Have you continued using the Skil to get a senes of strengths and weaknesses IRL? I have the TS6307 (NA version). Being fair, I wouldn't have a table saw but for the price and it's served me well in cutting pine and ply for shop stuff for the last year but...I found the table's not exactly flat and there's flex in the throat plate - trade offs for the price point. As I'm planning to try some more 'fine' furniture, I found some wobble in the blade (thin kerf). I've not given up on my Skil and there are a couple of things to try to improve accuracy, but I'm keeping an eye out for cabinet saws as I may have already outgrown this entry level machine.
@sumeraybuilds6 ай бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I have continued using the Skil and have a good sense of its strengths and weaknesses in real-world applications. I haven’t had issues with the table not being flat or with a wobbly throat plate, as mine is metal now. However, I do find the lack of soft start quite jarring - it’s almost scary without it when you’re used to having it! Another feature I wish it had is wheels or a rolling stand for better portability. I still think the DeWalt table saw is the GOAT for its overall performance and reliability. Thanks again for your input and good luck with your future projects!

I bought one of these, noticed first now half a year later that the left miter slot is horrible. It's width varies by like 0.25mm. 19.3mm to 19.55mm. I guess they are cheap for a reason, no quality control. I thought I'd buy a somewhat decent miter gauge, but that didn't help. Narrow at the start, then wide in the middle and the last 1/5th really narrow. Like 19.4mm the first 3cm, 19.55mm in the middle and 19.3 at the end.

I don't have this issue on mine... But it doesn't shock me that these errors can get through quality control either. Are you still under warranty?

When it's available or should I say if it becomes available you can 98% guarantee that it won't take a dado stack. Uk is funny about those and all the jobsite saws that you see in American reviews are altered for UK so no dado stack fitment option.

someone told me taht this saw is hard to put into a built table with an outfeed table. i think he said something about the legs not coming off well or something like that. is there any reason you shouldnt just build a table that has enough room to put the entire thing with the legs folded up onto the table?

For those in the UK having difficulty finding this saw...... It might be because evolution have released a rack and pinion table saw R255TBL. Tbh it looks like a copy of the skil and dewalt but comes with their "use only evolution blades" warranty. Not one for me because it's an evolution tool. If it is a skil knockoff then that would explain the difficulty in getting the skil from screwfix because screwfix sell evolution tools.

@@Sly_Wolf_1any other rack and pinion suggestions, except the dewalt? I saw milwaukee have it but I'm not sure if they have corded one ( I don't trust the battery power for some reason)
@Sly_Wolf_19 ай бұрын
@@n0spam911 Sorry but only three spring to mind. One is by Rutlands power tools, it looks the same as the skil table saw, it's 240v and a 3yr warranty and has had some good reviews, cost about £300 but no stand included, that's extra. Then there's the Hikoki C3610DRJ 36V, again 3yrs warranty (heavy duty) but it's about £450 including a wheeled stand or £350 without. I know it's battery but for about £150 you can by a Hikoki transformer power pack for it to run on 240v. Lastly there's one by excel power tools, around the £190 mark, no stand and I've not seen any reviews on it though. I think it's even available the either Wickes or B&Q. Sorry I cannot help any further. I've seen that Skil have a 5yr warranty on their battery tools, that's why I was interested in this one 3yr is fine but if it has 5yrs that's fantastic compared to the competition, plus I want the biggest 90° depth of cut, milwaukee and dewalt don't do 10" any more I believe, well certainly dewalt unless you want to spend close to £900.

I say allegedly because Skill have yet you reply to my email as there is no UK contact number for them (hate companies that won't actually speak to customers) They only outlet they list for their tools is screwfix...... And surprisingly enough they don't stock it. Having chatted with them it appears they have no plans to stock this table saw. They have however said that they are forwarding enquiries to the relevant department who will decide if it's worth stocking. So back to square one again. 🤦♂️
