I absolutely agree with your weeding method in the August section. Weeding takes two bucket: one for compost and one for weeds with seeds. This is the first time I have heard anyone (besides myself) say this.

Oh Liz what a bummer having that plastic membrane to monkey with. Glad you all tackled it the best you could. Wonderful to see Niall and JB pitching in to help plant up your shrubbery in March! So cool!

Yeah, for 2023, if your house didn't fall/blow down, didn't burn and wasn't washed away, you can consider yourself lucky!!

I love how you approach your garden, realistic and conscious working. What a bummer about the mesh, something for us to be aware of and to avoid. Big fan of your videos Liz, thank you for just being so real and natural. Happy New year and happy planning for the year ahead to you and MrB 😊

Wow , really shocked with the membrane , what a way to trick people in to disposing plastic in their garden etc 😮

Thank you for sharing. I have acre and half but mostly woods and 🦌. Although I love my trees, my grandmother was a farmer and I think it’s in my blood bc I have strong desire to grow vegetables every year. I love your videos

Liz, thank you for this look back at 2023. Thank you even more for continuing to press forward. You are very inspiring. It made me smile to hear you have never seen a "common lizard" in your area. Where I live in southeast Georgia, USA, we have oodles & oodles of 3 or 4 different varieties, as well as MANY other critters. 😉

Yikes. That ground cover was a good learning for us all. 😩 How lovely to see the common lizard. I randomly saw one basking this year too, at the top of Kinder Scout in The Peak District. I do two buckets for the weeds & compost too. It seems a very logical process. Happy New Year

I did wonder about the ground cover sheets. It's something everyone around me keeps saying i should get and honestly I'm going to keep plodding on the way I do I think. A great look back at the year Liz and I'm living vicariously through you at the moment. Looking forward to the coming year xox

The sheet mulch I usually use is great, it is free of plastics and lasts at least three years before it starts breaking down (check out Mulch Organic heavyweight cornstarch roll).

Hi Liz and Mr J hope you have a wonderful and less soggy 2024. I was talking to someone about your onion self sufficiency video. Then realise now it's 5 years since that was out! 😮 I have been watching you 'forever' and am still shocked. As for the lizard. We saw one on blorenge on a very sunny day. Proof we do get them in Wales... Sunny days and lizards. 😅 Hope your freezers are OK. Jane

Serious question: what did you think would happen when you put plastics over soil?…
@LizZorab9 ай бұрын
The sheet mulch that I usually use does not have plastic in it and is made from cornstarch I thought I was buying the same thing.
