Year Of The Mahabharata War: Reestablishing The Tradition of 'Vada' - 3 | Nilesh Oak | Manish Pandit

Vada is the discussion of two different claims or positions, based on the evidence and logic, without deviation from the established tenets of Nyaya-darshana (science of reasoning/logic). Bhagavan Krishna describes genuine debate as ‘वाद: प्रवदतामहम् i.e. Philosophical discussion to discern the truth as the manifestation of the Bhagavan.
There are multiple claims for the year of the Mahabharata War. Shri Nilesh Nilkanth Oak claims 5561 BCE while Dr. Manish Pandit claims 3067 BCE, for the year of the Mahabharata War. They make these claims based on internal astronomy evidence of the Mahabharata text.
It will be for the audience to listen to both positions and use their knowledge of the scientific method and logical reasoning to ascertain which of the two claims (5561 BCE or 3067 BCE) they consider closer to the truth

I guess the most difficult part for a person to accept both dates is the dogma created of indian civilizations antiquity by fraudreys and wendydutt . I sincerely hope that we do get concrete archaeological findings for mahabharat and Ramayana around these dates be it 3067 or 5561 ...I still would be very happy.. personally 5561 seems preposterous initially on hearing but definitely becomes more acceptable given the odds against it through the astronomical observations Hats off to nileshji and manish ji for the vaada and presenting your points .. a great service to dharma

Frankly I don't have much knowledge of the nakshhtras and other astronomical names for different positions of stars and planets, but I do understand the motions and positions of few. Wow !! All the anticipation,curiosity for the final part of the debate was justified. Though the organizers didnot announce the winner, most of the viewers got to know by the end of the debate, who the winner was. One participant was straight forward,clearly explains every claim he made,provides proof for each of them. While the other one is hesitant from the word go, cannot answer the questions that were being asked,appeared to be confused,a lot. Guys, I am not mentioning who's who in my comment, watch the debate multiple times carefully and decide it yourself. If any of you reply to me defending anyone, it only proves that even you observed the points of defeat of that individual, but cannot conquer your shraddha to move towards prajna . As faar as the Debate Is concerned, It was an Incomplete Debate I'd say but the key point was about the confusion between Planet and Comet. "बृहस्पति, शनैश्चर ,लोहितान्ग, सोमपुत्र" all these are EXACT words of PLANETS not comets. And well said "Mahabharata was first or Varahmihira...? Focus on Mahabharata" The Flooding Dates around the world were also in line with 5561BC. Anyways above all liked that at least people have started debating on its DATES... Great debate. As we know, Maharshi Vyas has purposefully made the texts difficult so that Ganesh takes time to understand these before writing as per their agreement. Meanwhile, Vyas composes the next sloka. So, nobody expects to get an easy straightforward explanation out of the slokas. As such, there are confusions owing to different explanations of the slokas. Adding to the difficulty, the astronomical softwares do not include many aspects of the relative movements. So, relying on those calculations introduces errors. To top it all, the texts might have got altered or distorted over the ages. Cross referencing the events with Srimad Bhagabat by Vyas takes a huge effort. It is a possibility that the events largely predates the time limitations set by colonial historians for human evolution. Srimad Bhagabat by Vyas holds a key to that. I sincerely hope that the two eminent speakers ponder on these aspects and reconcile their findings.

Dear Oak, Pandit, This is one of the best debates that i have seen. Probably this is how debates happened during Adi Shankara, MandanaMishra🙏. More than which is the correct date, it brings the most important point that mahabharatha is not mythology. Many half baked guys like Patnaik are just making money in the nane of our puranas and itihasa, just to please western educated audience. I really liked what Nilesh oak said ... ‘pride and truth’ Great that we have people like you, with so much passion and knowledge. I am not yet convinced that bharatha war happened in 5500 bc. Also one question arises to my mind if Mahabharat was in around 3000 bce won't it will be the same period of Indus valley civilization (proven). And Mr.Pandit only took very selective references only form astrology on the other hand Nilesh Oak theory is backed by 30+ other evidences which he has not discussed here.

i have a rudimentary question re the astronomy software program's ability to go that past and give precise results of the sky showing planets, sun and moon's position. if both of the speakers will use the same program will they arrive at one date conclusively. thanks

No. But that has nothing to do with the precision of the software. The problem is that of scientific acumen, logical reasoning, tantrayukti, Vyapti-Jnana, and Vivek. That is where the difference is. Both speakers would not have a problem agreeing about the efficacy of the astronomy software.

With my shallow understanding Saying that Mr. Oak has upper hand so far in terms of most astronomical events he able to decode and understand.. how the Concept of Comet and planet is made confusing. Considering where that instant occur and who has observed that event and from where- is makes it more relevant and worth paying attention to. When it observed by Mr.Vyasa/Krishna/Bhishma or other sages then no question of doubt about comet and planet. Hare Krishna. Prabhuji Dr Pandit ji is correct on most of his points and Prabhu Nilesh ji is wrong on most of his points. In terms of how many points are wrong, Prabhuji Nilesh ji simply cannot escape the fact that he mistakes a late waning phase Moon for a waxing phase, does not prove Balarama's pilgrimage which Prabhuji Dr pandit ji does (despite the talk of the 3 day gap in dates) and misses the most important data which proves that the AV observation is also wrong in his hypothesis. Prabhuji Nilesh ji has had a long time on social media as an as astronomer and is hence known quantity whereas Prabhuji Dr pandit ji was only known as a great film maker before the debate. Even then, the very fact that people like me who used to implicitly back Prabhuji Nileshji so much for years and his date have now come to back Prabhuji Dr Pandit ji in a space of 3 months. But being a non- traditionalist, Nilesh ji has his own manufactured theories on bakra, apsavya motion, kali on 5525 BC etc contrary to traditional views supported by scriptures, just like Viswamitra created Trishanku going against tradition. Hope, one does not end up in Trishanku, upside down.🤣😂 Joke apart, Like Viswamitra, Nilesh ji is definitely a great scholar though I don't know whether he prefers himself as Rusi/muni or not. Besides, he is a very learned person having grasp over multidimensional fields of study. Hare Krishna. So finally at the end we realised that Prabhuji Dr Pandit shifted war timeline by 3 days from old theory. He fixed the last day of the war to Shravan nakshatra. 12th dec.Gita 24th Nov, Wr starts 25th Nov and ends 12th Dec. I guessed it from first part of the debate.

Sorry to say but Manish is behaving like a lawyer and not researcher. But can you get some evidences from Egyptian or Persian history, as those civilizations had also good knowledge of astrology and astronomy then. Also Mahabharata was a great war of its time. Maybe other cultures have also mentioned it in their history.
