@@byroncarr4157 Mr. Wrestling 2 was retiring because he was in his 50s when he "pushed" Magnum TA his body was beat up but he was still doing his part to promote the sport he loved. Had Magnum not had his accident he would have pinned Flair for the World Title and had long career like Flair as Champion. All this set in place because of Jim Ross and Mr. Wrestling 2 giving back to the sport that made him famous. As a side note this speaks volumes about Flair, many times he was to hand off the belt to the next big thing but it seemed always the next big thing got hurt, died or became too demanding for the role and Flair was the only go to guy at that time that could draw a crowd as Champion like him or not. Flair was always there to pick up the belt and keep it viable until the next big thing came along and finally worked.

There is an amazing important part to this angle. As the story goes Two and Magnum had real trouble when Magnum teamed with a native of Downers Grove, Illinois. Guy named Lanny Poffo. The son of Angelo Poffo. The brother of a then Memphis supervillain named Macho Man Randy Savage.B.W.

I remember watching this on "Channel 3 KTBS (ABC) SHREVEPORT LA" When it was shown. Everybody, and I mean EVERYBODY was stunned 😳 the "MR WRESTLING II" Backstabbed "MAGNUM T.A" over being passed over. But "T.A" wasn't the only one that "MR WRESTLING II" (formerly a good guy) "BACKSTABBED", nor was the "JUNKYARD DOG" either. But he had the (his finishing) "KNEE LIFT" that everyone knew to beware of. While "MAGNUM T.A" who stayed a good guy chose a different finishing move "BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX", and he had great success with it as well. "MR WRESTLING II" after "T.A" also trained another who would extremely DANGEROUS, That man would be known as: "HERCULES HERNANDEZ". Who's finishing move was the "COBRA CLUTCH". Also very effective.

Watts tried to work a Bible lesson into a lot of the angles he'd book. He was really laying it on heavy with this one: sacrifice, turning the other cheek, etc. It wasn't just face vs. heel, it was Good vs. Evil. Kind of a unique approach to commentary, but I think it worked well, and there were certainly a lot of fans in that part of the country who came from the same deeply Christian place that Watts was coming from.
