I am an American visiting Singapore and can confirm that everything that person complained about is wrong. There's a million acceptable places to light a cigarette, just not some parks. It's by far the cleanest city I've ever seen, and the size of it makes that statement quite impressive since it's no easy task to maintain. And how does he expect river water to not look like river water? It's a moving stream that's constantly moving around sediments, dirt, and rocks. All rivers look like that during certain parts of the year, month, day etc. And I've seen at least 5 places selling perfumes since I got here, but why would people wear them all the time anyways since they attract bugs? Definitely some L takes. Singapore is beautiful.

Honestly, the only complaint that I would have about Singapore after studying there for a while is accessibility for the disabled. Yes, it's continually improving and props for the additions of elevators at many bridges for crossing. But sometimes I'd be with my friend, who uses a mobility scooter, at certain places that don't exactly have the best designs for accesibility. One that immediately pops into my head is Bugis MRT elevator to the green line platform. It's basically tucked inside a small narrow hallway. Dhoby Ghaut MRT elevator to the red line platform is also awkwardly placed behind a pillar. I guess it's too late to fix that one, but getting in and out of that elevator with a mobility scooter is quite of a hurdle.

When you're referring to the red and green lines, those are Singapore's very first generation of MRT stations. As unfortunate as it is, accessibility for the disabled perhaps may not have been focused on in the design, but as add-on improvements in the later stages. You can find the interesting mrt map on wiki where the red line was still not connected.

I live in Singapore for over a year but before this I was in other countries. The only things I complained about while I was there is the over crowded places almost everywhere I go (I have claustrophobic) even on the weekdays. Other part is the weather, I still trying to adapt with heat. Other than that. Singapore is beautiful, small country that I can just explore places slowly. Tho I didn't explore enough. And this type of foreigner, they are always entitled no matter where they at, as soon as I saw him, I know where that from. Most people come from that area are actually arrogance and refused to follow or respect others. We have few in our hiking group and we don't like them. They smoke everywhere around people while many of us away and joined other smokers. They grew up to think they are a better human than others. And should stay where they belong.

jus wondering where is he from?
@Marianna28772 жыл бұрын
@@appleborbs5065 he spoke a word of Arabic and I heard that he comparing the water (river or beach) to Dubai. But who knows, the way he spoke so arrogant, he could be just from any where and claimed to be somewhere. And if he really got dumped like few commenters says, he probably is a jerk and have no respect for anyone.

Perfumes were originally invented to mask body odors in times when it was difficult to have regular baths. Almost all residents in Singapore would take at least one, and many take more than 1 bath, a day (the weather is hot!) and so don’t need to use perfumes to mask the smells. To some local residents, strong perfumes can be quite nauseating. It’s just a matter of what people are accustomed to.

The refrain is we can't please everyone or every tourist. End of story. Its a fact of life that despite rolling out the red carpet, we still cannot make every visitor happy or pleased.

If he had had his smokes, he may not be ranting the way he did. Rants don’t make sense. He wasn’t allowed to blow smoke/hot air (no pun intended), so it all came out in meaningless rants. 😊

There will always be self entitled people. There are everywhere. You mainly get to experience their ignorance if you are in the service industry. That is their characteristic to look down on others and expect more respect than what they deserve because of their low self esteem. It is like recognizing a cockroach when you see one. I can sense one from a mile away and like cockroaches you cannot get rid of them and sometimes they invade your place of work - unpleasant but you have to put up with them.
