@@ethanparker4309 Copied from others comment: I’ve read Park’s book and watched her videos, and this is my impression to Yeonmi Park: 1) She and her family used to have a good life in North Korea. She had Nintendo in 1993. Her entire family (from grandma to children) do many illegal things to make money. Even after she went to China, she also involves illegal business. And she is proud of telling these in her book because it’s “for living” (meanwhile many North Koreans choose not to do these things) 2) From her video, if you look in her eyes, watch her gestures, you will know she’s lying. It’s so obvious, if you are more than 20 years old you can easily understand what i’m saying. Actually she should have done better at lying skills, but due to her lack of education, she’s not mentally mature, the truth is she can’t lie well. Her “Breaking News” about what recently happens in North Korea has no source. 3) It’s so obvious that she was trying to make some money out of her influence, again due to her lack of education, she couldn’t do well in hiding her purpose of making money.

This vlogger makes me realize that we are all lucky because we have freedom in our country. We can do whatever we want without fear.I hope and pray for North Korea to have a democracy in their country. And also equality, have human rights and dignity.

Heartbreaking. But also uplifting to hear how the human spirit still survives in the harshest of conditions. As a jew I heard stories about what people went through in the Holocaust. It is unbelievable that Koreans go through similar terrible conditions their entire life.

The fact things like this are still happening in modern day society with so many of these “advanced” civilizations just goes to show how humanity’s focus has never been to do the right thing.
