EVERYDAYS
Look at the sad goodbyes
Everydays are killing time
Sun coming up outside
No men are born this time
Saturday's child stays home
Nothing to say, so long
Well, well, well, another day
Well, well, well, another day
Grocery store ten bucks
Just making change for plastic cherries
Up in a tree jaybird looking at me
No word
Everyone looks you can't see
We can't be ignored easily
Well, well, well, another day
Well, well, well, another day
Soft within the wayward things
Like ecstasy the sound of trees
Most anything, what a baby sees
Beautiful face all right
Many a place out of sight
Old woman there with red shoes
One million balloons all used
Drive over hills forget your fear
Getting it out of second gear
Well, well, well, another day
Well, well, well, another day

The first two YES albums are vastly underrated; strangely relaxing / calming to listen to with jazz influenced spacey jams courtesy of Banks and Bruford.......RIP Squire Chris and Peter Banks you especially are not forgotten.........

+Harold de Mure my favourite all time records from yes are the first three...i adore rick wakeman but the first records with kaye have a special mood, less obviously baroque but the way tony kaye played the organ is impressive, and perfectly matching the style of the songs.

Love the period when Jon could sing in his quieter and lower range, which is quite rich. Also love the outright jazz influence in their earlier recordings. Love what Alan White brought to the band but, Bill's departure changed so much about the band.
@roncolem5790
@roncolem5790 4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Later recordings, Jon started almost yelping the songs but this song along with Sweetness, I See You, Survival , you really appreciate Jon's high tenor vocals. I also agree the Bill leaving the band effected their sound so much. I saw an interview where Rick Wakeman said that"Bill leaving is when you can see the cracks in the scaffolding and we were never quite the same"
@diannkelley3481

I too love the lower range way more than the upper one of 20 years + later. This song really brings out Chris’s playing and shows how each member especially Jon and Steve were drop dead gorgeous.

This is hilarious. Ahead of its time, years before MTV. The Bruford/Kaye period of Yes is one of my absolute favorites. It swings, grooves, and rocks in a way that the Wakeman/White period doesn't. I wish this incarnation had remained intact for a few more albums.

I've always loved Chris Squire's last bass riff at the very end of that song - so perfect and so tight!

This video was an afterthought made around 1971, when Steve Howe took over from Peter Banks. The music is from the 1970 album Time and a Word. Therefore while the video features Steve, the music features Peter.

I LOVE JON ANDERSON'S VOICE ON THIS. Honestly. After 1972, this Jon Anderson never came back. And I miss this one. Earthy. Bluesy. Jazzy. When he started singing like he was forming a Cult, he lost me.

This had to have been from the future. I can't believe this was recorded in 1969-70. Also. Stephen Stills wrote it!

Getting to appreciate those two first albums more, and more, and more... I absolutely laughed out loud when the nun started chasing them. The Banks Yes is a whole different creature than the Howe Yes, much like the Rabin Yes is a whole different thing. Like Yes West, the original can't really compare to the Howe lineups, but is very, very good in its own right. Love the jazz elements at this point.
