As a storm rages outside, Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone) and Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) share a quiet moment in their blossoming relationship as the events of Killers of the Flower Moon begin to unfold.
Killers of the Flower Moon is now playing in theaters everywhere.
At the turn of the 20th century, oil brought a fortune to the Osage Nation, who became some of the richest people in the world overnight. The wealth of these Native Americans immediately attracted white interlopers, who manipulated, extorted, and stole as much Osage money as they could before resorting to murder. Based on a true story and told through the improbable romance of Ernest Burkhart (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Mollie Kyle (Lily Gladstone), “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an epic western crime saga, where real love crosses paths with unspeakable betrayal. Also starring Robert De Niro, Jesse Plemons, John Lithgow, Brendan Fraser, Tantoo Cardinal, Cara Jade Myers, JaNae Collins, and Jillian Dion, Killers of the Flower Moon is directed by Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese from a screenplay by Eric Roth and Scorsese, based on David Grann’s best-selling book.
Hailing from Apple Studios, Killers of the Flower Moon was produced alongside Imperative Entertainment, Sikelia Productions and Appian Way. Producers are Scorsese, Dan Friedkin, Bradley Thomas and Daniel Lupi, with DiCaprio, Rick Yorn, Adam Somner, Marianne Bower, Lisa Frechette, John Atwood, Shea Kammer and Niels Juul serving as executive producers.

Not to be rude but as someone who knows nothing of that culture, what does it mean? I mean I love rain and storms (I sleep to a thunderstorm soundtrack, it keeps me relaxed) but what does it mean to be silent when there storm? As a pagan I’m very intrigued

@JoesMMO sometimes rain can have different smells and colors. For example, if the sky starts turning green, then it rains hard, which means a tornado 🌪 is on its way. Also, you might notice, everyones Dad walk outside to check if the tornado is here yet 🤣

@@Dumaka90 Hi. You're not rude at all. So for our family they were Christian (most tribes are converted) and God is cleansing the land so to be still and quiet. (a lot of the old ways are integrated into Christianity) and then for the rest of the tribes, as I understand it. There is the thunder god and his two sons. They dress in lighting and play in the sky. I know some tribes believe that the great spirit is bringing a much needed rain and they see it as a blessing. Either way you need to be still and let them work/play as it is their time to do so. I know grandma used to set with her palms up and eyes close receiving God's blessing during storms. It was fascinating to watch.

That makes a lot of sense actually. I'm from the UK, we don't really get taught/ talk about native American culture just what gets filtered out from American media. Also I'm not a Christian either, I'm pagan and from both of your explanations it seems to me that there are some similar aspects.

This is still a thing. We open windows, go outside and watch and love a good storm as long as no one is hurt. The only time we head to a cellar is when we hear the tornado. Watch Twister and the beginning of Wizard of Oz and when the wind blows hard enough you can stand on your feet is the time to head to the cellar. I love the storms! We have a lower injury and death rate than the East because it’s so flat here and we can watch tornados from miles away during the day. Her accent is also spot on. I had to look up see if she’s from OK. She’s from Montana but sounds like she could be my neighbor.

You can listen to what yhe wind is doing, its direction and gusting, timing, how it's throwing the rain, the lightning and thunder timing, the ebb and flow as it passes thru. Then sometimes the ... quality of safety ... depends on any other things that might be heard under the noise of a storm... just saying, disturbing here might also be a disturbance there or worse and some folk might find ways out from one storm into another...

We have found-out, through a deep genealogical search, that one of my Irish-born grandmothers was the equivalent of a practicing, Gaelic "witch ." There has been a long, vibrant, ancient "underground" culture of Christianity mixed with so-called "pagan" wisdom, in England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales. Much of this eventually found its way to Colonial America, Canada,Africa, Australia and the Caribbean. The Christmas tree was a Druid tradition. My Gran use to predict weather, earthquakes, and other earthly "distubances." She said she could feel it in "her bones" and could "hear the wee spirits" when it was silent, and either windy or raining. She also knew when people were going to die, but was sworn to keep this to herself. This became a true torment. As a child she could hear "the voices" from the sinking Titanic, and the battle fields of World War One. She was also trained to be a "sin eater " We think some of my ancestors were "burnt at the stake" for their alternative faith practices. This movie scene brings so much of that complex, multi-cultural history to life!
