If you want a vanilla image, flash the latest 23.05.3 (stable) from the repo. That inage is customized by the user and contains many packages and a different theme. Also , when configuring wifi, to get 160mhz working, you have to set the country code for the wifi adapter first, that's the only strange thing to the ax4200, the dfs prevents 160 if the country code is not set, and it takes a lot of time for the wifi to get up(6ghz only)

Can you please link where you got the sysupdate file that you used for the 2nd flash? The one that has the full flash with all of these nice settings already set up and packages. Thanks!

This is the link for the installation guide: forum.openwrt.org/t/asus-tuf-ax4200-support/155738/241. You should find everything here, but do let me know if anything goes wrong.

Hello, it would be great if you can make a detailed guide for reverting back to stock firmware. Looking forward to more videos regarding Openwrt stuff wrt this router from your end. Amazing job!

Sure, it's going to be a fairly short video, but yeah, I think I will do it soon.

install the facinstall package via your router's openwrt software page, follow the instructions. Very simple process

Thank you for all of these knowledges.

Hello. Having recently taken the fiber optic I wanted to modernize in a router more powerful. At first I wanted to take the same router as you as I had read in comments that you could put an alternative firmware but I was thinking of a merlin firmware and not at all an openwrt firmware. As I hadn't been able to find any more information on the subject, I looked for another Asus model that I was sure I could install the merlin firmware. Now, while looking for more information on the Asus TUF-AX6000 router I received, I came across your video. I admit it's bad luck

OpenWRT offers a very nice selection of features, but yes, you do lose some of the core ones, such as AiMesh..

I'm going to have to flash the Asus tuf-ax6000 router quickly. The current system is too restrictive and I really have the impression that the manufacturer is becoming intrusive. I had used for years with the official firmware and firmware Merlin model router Asus ax56u. I'm new to flashing the Asus router with openwrt. I'm having trouble understanding everything with the steps indicated. But on the whole I have the impression that it's similar to your Asus AX4200 router.

@@nano-xd8528 The TFTP method seems to be pretty much the same, but there doesn't seem to be a way to do it via web interface which is usually the easiest one..

Can you share the openwrt test results, how it compares to asus
@SamBondor5 ай бұрын
I haven't yet run extensive tests as I did in the dedicated review, but I can make a separate video to show if OpenWRT increases the throughput.

I've seen some russian tech channel doing wan aggregation on ax4200(on asus stock firmware), I couldn't see that option in my router just the dual wan with 4G dongle. Is it possible to do it with different firmware?
@SamBondor4 ай бұрын
I made a dedicated review for this router with its stock firmware so you can check it out to see the setting for selecting a LAN port instead of USB dongle. Just go directly to the Dual-WAN Performance section.

Yeah i did see your video, i want to know about wan aggregation not dual wan with dongle
@SamBondor4 ай бұрын
@muralikrishnachebrolu4030 I misread your comment. I just checked the TUF-AX4200 and you can use a LAN port for link aggregation, but only for NAS-like purposes. I quote from the ASUSWRT: "Enable Bonding (802.3ad) support for your wired client and then connect it to your Router's LAN1 and LAN2 port."

Do you know if this is the same process for the Asus tuf-ax6000?
@SamBondorАй бұрын
Yes, both routers have the same type of processor.
