I've been creating patterns for a few years now, more scattered ones--the geometric ones can be a little tough to get completely perfect depending on the intricacies - this was wow! Thanks for sharing!

Great tutorial, I’ve learned a lot from you, thank you Martin! I have a question also: do you have maybe a tutorial about “how to prepare the file to print”? I mean not only in which format or size/resolution is the best to save it but also some useful tips like: if we use the raster image it should be embedded or transparency should be flatten, or some other things. It would be great if you could explain some “technical” things on “how to prepare the file before printing to get the best result :) thank you in advance for your answer, have a great day!

Hi thanks for the tutorial! But towards the end, when I am changing the pattern's colors in the Pattern Options menu, everything works just like you showed EXCEPT my patterns are black at the tips/points of each line. So the arrows are the colors I set but the tip of each line is black. It's really weird. I wish I could attach and image to show you what I mean.

I saw several times, and I think the key is "Group"before applying "Transform“Effect. In the Layer panel ,Drag the line into the Group! And you will make the whole pattern .

Such a great video thank you! Your courses look excellent too. I have a question that was sparked when you were showing us how moving handles moves all of them (I've honestly never seen that in illustrator and wonder if there's a setting or something I'm missing)... anyway I digress... I have a client whose logo is a fairly simple illustration of a horse, but when scaled down becomes too fine (the lines). I'd like to thicken it up for them but I"m not sure how? Last I knew you needed a plugin for illustrator to do that? If you could point me in the right place I'd be so grateful!

Hi Martin, great video thank you. I'm very new to Illustrator-- if you were to create a cube shape out of this by matching the anchor points instead of leaving them as arrows, if you then created a cube pattern out of it, is it possible to edit the fill of individual cubes after the pattern has been created?

Is there an option in Illustrator “place a pattern along the path” (created with the pen tool for example) like in the photoshop? I really need this option :)

You need to create a Pattern Brush for that. Drag the design you want to use into the Brushes panel and choose Pattern Brush. I have a few videos on the channel on how to use them, make sure to check them out.
