Liked it too. Actually, was not into rock before seeing this movie. Made me discover the work of the Beatles - more than yellow submarine (wich I genuinely dislike) and Here Comes the Sun. Now I'm a young rock lover, learning guitar. I'm glad I watched this movie that one night with my parents. Now, I'm the old guy in high school 😂

In this movie, I could suspend my disbelief regarding a magical world where no one heard of the Beatles. However, it is utterly IMPOSSIBLE to believe that the main character wouldnt be immediately madly in love with Lily James.

In the original concept for this movie, he has all the Beatles songs but still can't get popular. It was a comment on how time, place and the social climate are all contributors to music's success.
@alexhodgkinson6718
@alexhodgkinson6718 Жыл бұрын
I'd much prefer this. The Beatles are mainly beloved for what they did for music. If they didn't exist music would not be the same today, which makes this film paradoxical. And if they *were* to somehow never have existed and started out today, their music wouldn't be as big as it was. Music has moved on from that era. I and many others would like the music but they would not be the global phenomenon they were. And that's where the film loses me.

That was because I'd be listening to the radio on a car journey and the music would come on the radio and I'd be completely transfixed by it. I would ask my dad what the song was and who it was by and it would always be The Beatles. Edit: The first Beatles song I ever heard was The Fool on the Hill.

This scene was really nicely shot. Especially when they showed scenes from the area, not just focusing it on fhe people at the table. It grounds the scene in the real world and maybe reminds us of a particular time when we heard Yesterday and it had a special resonance for us. Also, this was the first time I really was struck by Lily James' loveliness - probably because she was in everyday clothes and she sparkled in them anyway.

Why does our world look the exact same though. If the Beatles never existed there is a huge chance British Rock and Roll doesn't take off. The Who, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, etc. never exist then too. It would be much more interesting if the movie asked the questions about the importance of music history. It seems like it tries to but misses the mark entirely.

No Beatles means a lot of bands or artists don’t exist… Ozzy got into music because he was a fan of the Beatles, Kurt Cobain wanted Nirvana to be Beatle lyrics combined with the sound of Black Sabbath. Carpenters first hit was a Lennon/McCartney song. The Monkees wouldn’t exist. The list goes on.

This movie is amazing, because it is about The Beatles without being a biopic. The actors, the music, the humor and the process of reinventing the legendary songs - what can be better than that! And Lily James of course. And they had an amazing scene with Ana de Armas but something went wrong apparently.

I used to have this theory that Ed Sheeran was actually a time traveler who came back in time to write/perform popular songs before their actual artists could think them up -- because his songs vary and can sound like other popular artists of this generation. So to see him in this movie about someone stealing Beatles songs in their absence felt like a real rubbing-it-in-your-face move by Ed.

What is really strange is that I wrote the exact same script ten years ago, and It's not a joke. I called it "yesterday", and the guy woke up after a car accident. I think it's quite ironic considering the subject of the story.

@@chrisnezar5918 I should have added when not performed by the Beatles themselves. Someone took their work and presented it as their own in current times in a world that didn’t know the Beatles. The movie made it seem like anyone that did that would immediately become famous just from the songs. That ignored the personalities and musical talent that also was part of the Beatles. It was just a movie, but that premise bothered me.

I remember this movie way back 2019 I was wearing The Beatles black shirt and my Papa is huge fan of The Beatles and he love the movie and he cried a little bit when the scene John Lennon is alive. Even though I'm just 17 yrs old before I already love most of the songs it's simple, meaningful, full of joy, and love. That is why their songs is one of the greatest song that I've heard in my life as well.
