I learned to torch weld in high school shop over 50 years ago, so this was a perfect video to show the different types of electric welding and how they function. Really appreciated that you were/are not a proficient welder. That showed the simplicity of the machine and some auto settings.

I have one, and it worked pretty good. I used the mig this weekend and was able to fix two wind mills (small ones). I used the plasma cutter to cut a washer and dryer and that worked out well.

I really like your review. I am in the Philippines and a machine like this is gold.... I understand you are learning the different welding process of the machine that you are demonstrating. Remember a weave or straight stringer weld is never just determined by a predetermined speed of travel but only by observing to size and location of your weld puddle ( molten metal) Maintain a weld puddle of the same size will determine your travel speed not making a travel speed to give a good weld bead. You have a great machine to learn with and again I really like your review.

2 improvements I hope Yeswelder makes : 1. Angle barb fittings for the plasma air to tidy up the back of the machine so the hose does not stick out passed the cabinet. 2. Supply an 0.023" MIG wire feed roller and add this size to the settings. 0.023" wire is better for body work because you can achieve a lower crown bead and introduce slightly less heat into the panel and possibly prevent warpage. I am very interested in getting this machine but the absence of the roller and the program cause me to hesitate on a purchase. The roller is available separately that will fit this machine. The settings are controlled by the program in the machine. I fear that as it now comes, 0.023" wire may not produce satisfactory results. 20ga is not an option. Newer cars are using 22ga. I have my fingers crossed they will add the thinner wire size to the proraming.

MIG settings in general seemed to need a little tweaking, so maybe they'll update that as well if they change the other MIG properties. It's a shame you can't override synergic control so you can work with whatever settings you like/need.

Thanks very much for this review. You reminded us more than once that you are not a professional welder and that is the perspective that I, as an amateur, need to hear. You covered a lot of the fundamentals that the pros assume everyone knows. Again, thanks.

Funny thing is I weld for a living, all processes, xray and phase array tested welds. Most high end welders on the jobs anymore are loaded with Chinese parts and quite a few Miller machines are made there. It sucks, but it seems that that's just how things are anymore.
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 3 жыл бұрын
My experience with scooters has shown me that Made In China can mean a lot of things. There are companies that make bottom tier stuff at low cost, but there are companies producing parts for companies like Yamaha or Harley that make quality components. There is great capability for manufacturing, but it depends what is specified and how much money is being saved. My opinion of this machine is that it is not the cheapest bottom tier unit, but it's definitely not a Miller.

It was not very long ago that you had to buy 3 or 4 separate machines to do what the MP200 will do. It is clearly not a "pro" machine, but it may be a good choice for a someone on a limited budget that wants to explore the different welding processes. Hopefully they can get the bugs straightened out and keep the price low enough (under 1K) for entry level hobbyists. I paid almost as much for my flux core welder 12 years ago, times have changed!

I agree, but it seems that they were trying to create a machine that did basically well enough at common tasks vs really making a do-it-all machine. Read the comments and there's a person that bought one recently and plasma is not functioning properly for him either. That's disappointing to hear about a production unit. Mine was a beta model.

Nice clear review. Just one thing though, a machine with capacitors can'y be treated as safe just because it's turned off. In this case yeah, but generally not a good assumption, especially if you need to open it up. This applies to any thing , even microwave ovens, they can still give you a blast. :)

30 amp breaker will be fine for your plasma cutter, unless you anticipate cutting extremely thick material for long periods of time if you’re cutting about quarter inch material you’re not gonna pop a 30 amp breaker. Good luck! And if you want to run a 220 line to your shop watch some KZbin videos. It’s very easy you will be surprised.

We use 110V and 220V here, so that part should be OK. Not sure if your receptacles are any different, but there are probably adapters. It comes with everything shown. Not sure about tech support. I was dealing with someone specifically handling the people doing reviews and at times it would take 2 weeks to get a reply. I'd think if you don't reply to the people that you want to publicize your product promptly, it doesn't say good things about support... but it could be great. I have no idea.

Are you having issues with the synergic settings preprogrammed ?? So far I tested mines on 220v using .035 solid with gas co2mix on 14ga(2mm) steel selecting the 14ga thickness It seems to have problems welding. Not just 1 welder its both welders! But when I switch out to .030 Flux and on 120v selecting 14ga works fine. It basically sucks on solid .035 wire on 220v ! It feels under powered on both mp200. Values displayed are not true!
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 2 жыл бұрын
From what I experienced, allowing feed speed adjustment beyond the synergic control would fix any problem that I had. Sometimes it piles up filler and I can't do anything about it.

Is there any settings lower then 18 Guage? Is this due to being plugged into 220v rather then 110v possibly? I'm curious as I often am welding 20-24 Guage sheet metal and need to be able to dial the welder into these parameters, any ideas ? Cheers!
@49ccscoot
@49ccscoot 3 жыл бұрын
What you see is as low as the settings get, and it was plugged into 110V. Your best bet with thin material on this machine would be TIG. The bad thing with all of the synergic control on this for me is that you can't adjust all things individually to get what you want.

The plasma cutter keeps cutting out like that because you keep taking the tip off of the steel, you got to keep the tip against the steel or it won't work.

I made many attempts and tried on and away from the steel. The cutter that I have uses a guard that keeps it off of the steel and works great, so that's what I was used to and tried when starting.

I don't disagree. I have 2 other YesWelder machines, a TIG/MMA and a plasma cutter. Both work fine, but I haven't had them long enough to give any honest review on durability or support. I have a Hobart MIG/FCAW that I've had for I think 7-8 years and the machine itself feels more solid. I do like this machine, but it doesn't have quite the same feel and I wonder about durability of electronics or the screen having issues and things like that. Hard to know how it really turns out. I think for anyone that's a pro, it may not be the right choice. It seems more like a DIY unit for folks like me that don't weld or cut daily. I will say that the torches feel like quality units that I'm not worried about.

I've been welding, as a hobby/at home shop welder, with a Power Fist (Princess Auto) 200A MIG/Flux machine for +16 years. I paid around $200CDN for it on sale - still cheaper than the $1000 Miller at the time. Things still worked even if worn out - but this summer the feeder system started to slip or stop and parts are not available or adaptable. The MIG torch jacket is burn in spots, etc and there are no replacement parts for it as it seems to use Habour Freight/Princess Auto specs. YESWelder seems to have used standard EURO style plugs and other common parts (standard rollers) that are shard with other manufacturers. I've built many things with this cheap welder - including my welding table and welding cart and if I get +16 years out of this "cheap" welder I'll be happy. I still had a +40 year-old Forney "farm" welder that worked but it was only stick and I suck at MMA (both welding and fighting) so I passed it on to it's next owner.

As a backer of their Kickstarter campaign, I received my production model two days before Christmas. Decided to throw it under the tree and put a bow on it so that my two young kids would recognize that daddy has a new toy he wants to play with, too! Opened it up and looked through the box... no manual. Contacted Yes Welder and asked for a manual; was told that it's still in production and it will be sent out via email once it's ready. I bought this "all in one" unit because I want to learn. I'm brand new to welding and cutting, so $500 for this unit seemed like a great deal. I'm still excited about it without the manual. It just means that I'm relying on videos like this to teach me some things along the way. Thanks so much for your detailed video. Even the issues you faced with the plasma cutter are issues I'll likely face as a newbie and I appreciate seeing the troubleshooting involved. Can't wait to see if I can get my hands dirty with the plasma cutter tomorrow!
