And I was there, 2 people in front of me... Without a doubt the best show I've seen by Prince. Not once during this show did he touch a guitar... The second and third show was with a slimmed down band, but this one night, with the big band... Holy shizzle. Perfection prefected.

The Crystal Ball version of Days Of Wild (which is a live version from the 90s) is one of my favorite Prince songs. As always, I love the stage being full of people pulled from the audience. That was always a great part of his shows, getting so many fans on stage to just party.

I have spent nearly 30 years trying to figure out why, just WHY, he cut this from the The Gold Experience at the last minute??? Like... just... why? The estate needs to get their ass in gear and give me the remastered Gold album with this, the original TMBGITW without the overproduction, original Endorphinmachine and all the other awesomesauce from that era, dammit >.< Great riff at the beginning good sir. There’s sooooo many different versions of this song and pretty much all of them are awesome. The one on Crystal Ball is probably always going to be my favorite, (any of the later years versions without the f bombs just don’t sit right with me, sorry 😂) but he always made it a banger, whatever the lyrics. Glad you’re back in the saddle, my man.

Awesome review Bryan. "Days of Wild" was always a showstopper. Too funky!! My favorite experience seeing Prince and the NPG perform this song was nearly 20 years ago at the Molson Centre in Montreal. Prince came out for a 20 minute encore of "Days of Wild" with Larry Graham guesting on bass. Prince wore a Montreal Habs hockey jersey that said Prince #1 on back. Another highlight was talking to Maceo Parker three flights up prior to his opening the concert walking down in the dark all the while playing his saxophone.

It was a lot going on, eh? The whole fam jam! The bald one with megaphone is Shelby J (LOVE HER) -NPG vocalist (with the other 2 who are usually with her -Liv Warfield and Elisa Forillio, also amazing). The tall dancer on the top is Damaris Lewis (model, and possibly P's muse at the time). I love it when Josh (the drummer's hubby) comes out..he's got great energy. Actually, I think they're all outstanding...but I do have my faves *wink. I also really enjoy seeing Donna light up a bit. Great reaction...as always! 🖐

This is a reworking lyrically of the original mid-90s track to take all the swears out. Doesn't work lyrically as well but the groove is excellent. The band onstage is basically everyone! Larry Graham is up there dancing but on instruments, it's 3rdeyegirl plus the extended NPG horns. Too many to list. But the sax solo is Marcus Anderson (not Miller, edited - sorry!) - excellent saxophonist. The bass sax seemed to have the mic turned down? Amazing experience to be in the room for that 2nd night at Montreux. He was channeling Duke Ellington or Count Basie that 2nd night. The 3rd was clearly Jimi & Sly. The 1st night - maybe James Brown? Anyway, I digress. Just a special thing to witness. After two nights of not playing instruments, it made his third night playing guitar and piano all the sweeter.

This was a nice concert from 2013. It Should be on you tube. In this show he had the horn section do a mardi gras jazz set too. He always had band members dancing. The revolution had to take ballet classes. He rehearsed for 10-15 HR s, then would do a 2 or 3 hr sound check, getting the sound right. If u watch the 87/88 band, known as the sign o the time band, the dancer Cat coordinated the show including the dance spots for the band
Glad you enjoyed! Prince never got no mediocre musicians on his stage. Agreed: the saxophonist was killing it so bad! Class act. x Tony

"Days..." is a good choice; a long time fan favorite best served as a concert jam rather than a formal studio recording. But watching this version is like watching a foreign film dubbed in English - the legion of people on stage can't take the place of the well-placed expletives in the 90s era versions with an overdrive-fueled bass played by PRN himself (like the 28-03-1995 version).

Lol LoVely In regards to you speaking on PRINCE wanting a physical performance from everyone involved. He told a member of THE TIME that he wasn't doing enough in regards to just playing. He told him your left hand is free *( 🎹 Jimmy Jam) his legs need to be moving with the music 🎶 when it came to certain songs PRINCE said they is always something you can be doing to contribute to the show. I thought that was very interestingly important🤔 and very funny but band members didn't like it. 😠 PS When Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam got fired by PRINCE he offered Terry Lewis a personal invite back without Jimmy Jam 🤔 Lol PRINCE didn't jell🍇 well with Jimmy's bitter green apple Jam🍏

Ive never seen this show, not use to the NPG horns on this. I still prefer the old lyrics but he gave up cursing back in 1998. From 1994 the dawn/Exodus era that gave us Come, The Gold Experience and Chaos & Disorder and my personal favorite era The first verse was about gansta rap, the second verse addressing his citrics, the person he wanted to call the b word was Madonna because he asked his label mate that she talk to Warner about freeing him and she refused the woman who accused him or hitting her is Sieannd O'Connor. And no bass playing by him 😭
@keithandchristalsaunders77472 жыл бұрын
The lyrics you attempted to read were the original version before prince vowed to clean up his songs and performances to where there was no more cursing. So the version you watched was after this commitment and he had changed the lyrics to the song in order to eliminate the bad language. The original was very crass and vulgar and the new version that you reacted to was the family friendly “clean” version. He made this change during the time period that he and Larry Graham were hanging out and had become a Jehovah’s Witness. Just a little FYI for you! Love your reactions! I am enjoying what you do with the prince stuff. Keep up the good work! -Keith Saunders

@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar Great! You’ve become one of my favorite “go too” KZbin guys. I may eventually join your Patron family. Though I’m not now an accomplished musician on any particular instrument I did collect music as a hobby some twenty year ago. When I stopped collecting music back then I had 1000 albums and 900 cds of all types of genre of music. Prince was by far my favorite artists and back then when people still had to buy CDs and albums I had the most complete collection of Prince music or any collector’s I met. 250 of my 900 CDs were tinge CDs containing both official releases and bootlegs. And I had approximately vinyl albums and EP’s of Prince music. I know you prefer to watch live stuff but there is a ton of work that you’re missing if his musical ability by not hearing his cuts off certain albums that may not be available live on video. I may suggest some songs if you’re interested. Let me know if that a possibility and I’ll share certain songs and/or official music video releases of songs that you may not of heard before. For example his songs “Thunder” from the “Diamonds and Pearls” album is one of my favorites that display is musical studio genesis and is also just a very clever and enjoyable cut.

@@YesYouCANPlayGuitar I think that he was working with new people in the studio and on this night (of 3? in Montreux) he wanted Andrew Gouche on Bass instead of Ida. Would love to know the story on this, surely it couldn't have been a last minute thing as there would have been loads of practice involved. Ida filled in on guitar, I believe that Prince actually tutored her on guitar, and the Black Vox he uses was actually a guitar that she initially purchased for herself. Prince liked the look of the guitar and she ordered one for him too. I think Donna is using Prince's Vox and Ida is using her own!
