Transform Your Dog's Coat In Minutes: The Comb And Rake Grooming Trick. I use multiple tools to groom Yeti and the comb and rake are just 2 of them. The comb should be used as the final step in grooming, to poof out your dog's coat. It has closely spaced tines, so it's much more comfortable for both you and your dog, when they've been fully brushed already.
Here's the video I mentioned, about grooming using the Chris Christensen oval brush. • Grooming A Samoyed Dog...

My daughter got me one of the 27mm CC brushes, big G slicker, and buttercomb for Christmas. I need to get one of the rakes with the swivel pins, as they looked useful. I was wondering if the CC stuff was really worth the extra money, I assume yes since most things in life are, but wow, some of those CC brushes are expensive! How do you keep your brushes from getting damaged? I wanted to throw my oval brush in my dog bag but have been worried about it getting crushed. I ended up getting Flying Pig's Pro blower that has the digital screen. The first one I received from them worked well, but you could not read the LCD screen. They were great to work with, I sent them an email and within 2 days they shipped me a new one and said to ship the old one back. The new one just got here today so I haven't tried it (crossing fingers!). The digital screen has a temp readout which I thought would be safer for me since I will be new to this, and it wasn't too much more. Puppy should be here next Friday (crossing fingers, the wait is horrible). I have to thank you for all these videos. I took the money I would have needed to care for a dog over the past year and spent that on preparing. Our last dog was 7 years ago and was a lab. We since had a child and I didn't want to reintroduce a puppy to the house until she was responsible enough (dog is primarily for me, but still). I feel very well prepared now thanks to your videos, obviously along with others I have watched and articles I have read. I did order a grooming table as my wife told me I should, so I made sure I got the 48" version from your list. Tips like that are very helpful, so thank you. I've had various dogs through my life (mostly English Springer Spaniels, and then our last lab-mix), but never had a double coated dog. Speaking of the grooming table, in the video on the oval brush you had questions from people that have used them. I have the same questions, so if you figured any of that out, you should do a video (unless you already have and I missed it!). I worried about using the leash that holds them to the table, what happens if they to get off when you turn your back? Yikes. But also wondered as you said about lifting them and so forth. I guess for a year I won't have that issue :)

Hello MLJenkins! Yes, the CC is definitely worth the price. The swivel headed rake I used, was an old non-CC brand and is definitely NOT worth getting. It hurts Yeti. I didn't have my CC, nor Greyhound rakes on hand, so that's why I didn't use them in this video. Yeti and much prefer the ease of use of all CC tools, #1 All Systems and the Greyhound rakes we have. They remove a lot of fur, have rounded tines, zero scratching and feel really nice to Yeti. In fact, he now lays fully on his back to have his entire belly brushed. He never used to do that with the swivel rake, nor any other poorly made tool. No need to worry about the longevity of a CC Oval. The pins are meant to sway for ease of brushing, so they're extremely durable. I put them all in my big grooming bag, without protection from one another. They're fine. I have a LOT of grooming tools. I normally don't use a blower to help with grooming. I groom inside my house, normally in the bathroom, so to have fur flying everywhere would be too much. Many groomers use it as a way to get rid of excess, loose fur, which would be great if you can easily locate all the millions of strands of floof that would fly off a Samoyed. You're welcome for the videos. I also have an email list that I would love to have you sign up for. You get a free guide on stopping barking, something all Sam owners need. It's at yetisplace.dog/stopbarking, if you haven't already signed up. In addition, you get a lot of free info and help on Samoyed ownership. Re: the grooming table... you don't have to use the leash on the table. You can place your dog on it, have them lay down, or stand up. I would either get a grooming cushion too, or use a folded towel to make it more comfortable for them. If they aren't used to the grooming table, you can use it folded up, laying on the floor at first, to help them get used to it. I have the 48 inch, which is a great size for a Sam. Gives your dog plenty of room to lie down on it if they'd like. The Oval brush should be one of the first used. I'll have to look back at the questions asked to see what had been asked. Sammies require multiple brushes. I like to start with a rake, either the Greyhound Combs rake (which I don't have linked), or the CC rake which is linked. Then, move to the Oval. Then the Big G/K, followed by the comb as your final step. Moving from widest spaced bristles/tines, to most narrow. I would also use a grooming spray, like the CC Ice on Ice, as that helps melt mats and eases grooming.

I’m sorry, I couldn’t find the question/comment you were referring to on my video about the Oval 35mm. Would you care to ask it here?

@@YetisPlace What about the CC Bathing T-Rake with staggered pins? I had that on my wishlist and most of the stuff I had on there I did some homework on prior. That is good to know about the swivel headed rake not being worth it. Lol on the fur flying! We are lucky enough to have a large stand in shower that has a raised area to sit in it. My plan currently is to bathe and use blower in there, covering the drain so it doesn't send fur down it. I can leave the vac outside the shower door, so it will be cracked open just a tad. I have a small shop vac I've had for years that I figured I would use to suck up the fur. IDK, we'll see, I guess you don't know until you try right? lol! Worse case our bedroom ends up looking like mid winter. I more so wanted the blower to dry her after bathing when the was younger. We have a couple horses and it can get quite muddy here, and everything I read said the mud doesn't come off them as well when they are younger. Oh I am on your list, that's how I knew to watch this video! :) I haven't read the stop barking guide yet, but I need to do that soon! Hey that's a great idea on laying the table flat at first! Thanks! Mine hasn't arrived from Amazon yet but it was the 48" on your list as I recall watching your earlier video talking about the smaller one being too small. I think my biggest worry with her is briars and ticks. I like to take a lot of hikes in the woods here, and sometimes the underbrush gets a little thick in some areas. On the bright side, a tick on white fur is probably easier to see than the black lab we had years ago :) Thanks again! And give that big fluff Yeti an extra treat from us :)

For the ticks, Yeti gets medicine from the vet. Monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm. Ticks are extremely difficult to find when they burrow in. If they’re crawling around on their fur, they’re much easier to find. But, getting them on medicine from the vet, will help your dog stay healthy when they bite. Your shower sounds amazing for your Sam! That would be perfect for using the dryer to help with grooming. I own and have used the CC t-rake so much. It’s heavy and solid. Works really well. I also own the staggered 1 and 1/4 inch staggered tooth Buttercomb. I own so many brushes, tools and products from CC because it’s helpful for videos. Thank you for having signed up for my email list, Matt! I really appreciate it!!

Love seeing you and Yetti again. Khaleechi will be 2 years old January 30th. Any suggestions on how to get him to love grooming. Everything is a game to him so he playfully attacks everything. I tried treats but he inhales them.
@YetisPlace
@YetisPlace 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Barbaraasante!! Happy early birthday to Khaleechi!! What brand of brush do you use? Perhaps the reason he’s attacking them is because they hurt his body. I would get a Chris Christensen slicker, a Chris Christensen 35mm Oval. Stick with Chris Christensen, #1 All Systems and Greyhound Comb brands. I have affiliates linked for all but the Greyhound at kit.co/yetisplace/grooming-tools. All of the tools and products I have linked in there, are all the products I use to groom Yeti. I would also recommend you get a sticky lick pad to attach to your bathtub and put some doggie safe peanut butter in. I have that linked in the group above too. Keep grooming sessions short, use one tool at a time, use the doggie safe peanut butter for treats.

Yeti also didn’t like being groomed, because I was unknowingly using tools that hurt his body. Once I switched to Chris Christensen and #1 All Systems, he now falls asleep.

Exercise him before being groomed. He could have a TON of energy, which makes grooming difficult.

Thank you so much! I have the “safe” brush and butter comb. Khaleechi just believes everything is a toy. I love your idea about the peanut butter! He, of course, loves peanut butter. Thank you again. You’re amazing!

Hi Terry! Thanks for your comment about Xiomara. Yeti falls asleep when I groom him, but still refuses to get near the grooming table. So, I groom him on the bathroom floor.
