@@arrionarchie2120 Oh it will SUUUUUUCK.. And It enrages me more than this one to be honest, because ever since I was A CHILD I have desperately wanted a hand animated Lion King Origin story that shows Scar growing up with Mufasa with all the beauty and grand music that the original had. I wanted to binge it and then have the original to go back to and be like, "Ya Scar has ALWAYS been sassy and I sympathise more with his side now" or "Ah THAT is how he met the hyenas." Instead we will likely get another "Our tribe V their tribe" bs thing like they do with every damn movie now that will have NO character development that matters. :(

Historically for 1000s of years they didn't coddle the heir apparent as far as their duty They didn't have a choice in marriage and were defined by being an heir.. they would most definitely tell them something like that haha You can't apply modern day child rearing to that scenario that's silly

It feels like everyone recorded their lines separately and instead of hearing the previous line from another actor, they just interpret the line in their own head and react to it based on how they say it in their mind.
@unclegumbald989
@unclegumbald989 4 жыл бұрын
I’m not positive, but I think that’s how most animated projects are recorded? If that’s true, then I think it goes to show that a proper director / producer is absolutely VITAL. Look at Bojack Horsecock- I mean, Horseman. The actors are all recorded separately, and that show’s a frakkin’ masterpiece.
@frankmerker630
@frankmerker630 4 жыл бұрын
@@unclegumbald989 usually, decent voice direction would include playback of the other voice actor's lines in the scene or the director would be able to verbally communicate what tone they should try to achieve and really deliver it convincingly even when the actors aren't in the same room. Many directors of animated movies are able to achieve this. In this, it's as if he handed a copy of the script to the actors and only took the first take of them reading their lines.
@pianfarndt
@pianfarndt 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah, there needs to be more communication overall. The actors that should be talking to each other in a scene should be talking to each other in real life as much as possible. It's kind of like leaving someone a voicemail, but you are trying to answer questions you think they might say if they did pick up the phone. Then the person listening to the voicemail later tries to fill in the gaps. But they only get to listen to the voicemail once. Maybe my analogy makes no sense haha.
@SR-fw4yy
@SR-fw4yy 4 жыл бұрын
Thats how they do it normally, but they usually do many takes of the same line with different directions for each take and then piece together the best combinations later. Maybe this time around they just did fewer takes because they didnt care; it would have been a hit no matter what.

It's not like the film had an all-black cast. Only 4 of the actors in the film are black (possibly 6 if you want to count young Nala and young Simba's singing voice). Then again, Disney+ also has Kazaam with Shaquille O'Neal in that category. So to them, if a black person is the main character no matter what the plot is, it's a Black Story.

There is something else I hate about this new "lion" look and it is that their fur "or I should say the ENDS of their fur" looks too static-y. It is like a far far too fuzzy blur that almost makes a cgi halo around the characters as if not ONE SINGLE HAIR lays FLAT. If you look at a real cub at least SOME of the hairs are smooth. Hell even the eyes are too small and expressionless in this version. I just googled "lion cub funny" and the real lions have bigger more expressive eyes and actual emotion lol... ALSO: The "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" playing when Nala is getting a tongue bath is just.... 0_0 why.... lol

To be devil's advocate for 10 seconds (because that's all this movie deserves), lion cubs do make some strange noises, I've seen some make that kind of sound in nature documentaries and the like. It still sounds really odd in that scene though, because it just comes out of nowhere, is a very animalistic noise that came out of a character that was talking a second ago and is balanced in such a way that it's really loud. The original at least knew how to balance the human voice/animal sound element better.

"You can't escape your destiny" would only make sense to say to a child as a joke. You know, like if a kid is goofing around and the parent plays along: "Jimmy, you're covered in mud, you need a bath." "No!" *running around the house laughing* "Jimmy, YOU CAN'T. ESCAPE. YOUR DESTINY." Even then that only works if you actually have that kind of banter with the kid and/or the situation is chill enough that it's obvious that you're being dramatic. You know, the very thing these characters and scene are completely lacking.
@michaelstrong5383
@michaelstrong5383 4 жыл бұрын
That line doesn't make sense in context of the scene either. "Escaping your destiny" would imply that Simba refuses to become king when that isn't the case at that point. The line should have been used in a later scene where he's out of Pride Rock. Sure, it would still be on-the-nose, but it would make sense there than the segue to "I Just Can't Wait to be King".

The MPAA standards are so different now. Don Hahn (TLK ‘94 producer) said they would’ve lost the G rating to a PG if the groundhog that speaks with Zazu after the pouncing lesson had been a naked mole rat, as it was originally intended. The scene where Nala is banished after refusing Scar’s sexual advances was scrapped to avoid a PG-13 rating. It’s amazing how they got away with Nala’s do me eyes, though, when the crew doesn’t even hide it was meant to be sexual. Nowadays, everything gets slapped with a PG rating unless it’s content exclusively made for children under the age of 6.

What is most infuriating about this is that every aspect of this movie, plot, music, characters (or lack there of) is design to remind you a better movie rather than its own. They had shit loads of money and resources and yet the end result is a movie that it's literally nostalgia bait Ready Player one BS of the original Lion King, and somehow completely destroy everything good about it. However, I would have not hated this movie so much if at least any effort from the developers of this film could have been visible or emphasized, or a least something new or original but there is nothing there.

Simba's line about 'even who to marry' - we really out here implying that this lion's father would force him into a loveless marriage? Or that lions are getting married? Lion brides and lion grooms? @@user-kt3zv1cm5j Yeah, with the monarchy aspect they definitely went more with the concept of a human monarchy rather than how actual prides work, so it's easy to overthink it (like, I don't think Mufasa is meant to be Nala's father too, but there's no other males except for Scar, so whatever the outcome Nala is either related to Simba or a bastard child). I guess because they wanted it to be more relatable and also stick more to the Hamlet story. There's an animated series online called "My Pride" which, while obviously having fictional elements(like, the lions have their own folk tales, ceremonies, religion etc), actually has the lions operate more like a pride, which was interesting to see after growing up with The Lion King for so long and noticing that.

Adam, Can You Feel the Love Tonight's tune also plays in the original when Simba and Nala are cubs. If you listen closely in the scene leading up to 'I Just Can't Wait To Be King' you can hear a pan flute play the tune - it's WAY more subtle and nice to listen to in the original; but it's there. It fits better with the context too in the first one, it plays while Zazu is talking about their betrothal. I agree the remake is shoving it down your throat more, but it's still a weak point gievn this. I hope he doesn't make that a point in the review, there's a slight oversight there.
@myhopeyourhopej-hope9913
@myhopeyourhopej-hope9913 2 жыл бұрын
The difference is that is the scene where their betrothal and inevitable relationship is first mentioned. It is arguably the theme for their relationship and works as a neat little foreshadowing. Having it when she's getting a bath doesn't work because nothing in this scene is about their eventual romantic relationship. If anything, it is creepy because it is like playing a sexy song overtop a child in the bath with it's mom. Disturbing. But it wasn't in the review itself anyway.

I think the "stay downwind" might mean to stay downwind of the other lions, presumably so that the pride could locate them by smell if they got lost. When people say "stay downwind" they usually mean "stay downwind of here." Still doesn't make sense though since Zazu would be with them and presumably should be preventing them from getting lost in the first place.
