A brief demonstration on how to control and use the 622-tx with the 622 triggers

I just got a set of these bad boys. I'm already regretting not getting 2 sets of the triggers. For their price it's hard to go wrong. A friend of mine got 3 speed lights, 4 triggers and the controller unit for the price he'd have paid for a single 600RT, which is a great piece of kit don't get me wrong, but first party gear ALWAYS has a crazy mark up when it comes to accessories. Like the £120 price tag for a tripod collar mount for the 100mm Macro. Seriously Canon, it's a damn rink clamp! It's 1/6th the price of the lens! It should come WITH the lens if you ask me, but I'm going off on a ranty tangent now lol. Back on topic. I like how simple these are to work out too. Of course being a man I looked at the manual and laughed maniacally and dived in head first. You mentioned a couple of things I didn't quite work out myself though like the 1/3 increments by hitting up and down. No idea why I didn't notice that one haha.

I use a Nikon d5300. Please I need your help. I have just bought a YN685 speed light, a YN622N transreciever and YN622N-TX. I want to use the YN685 speed light as my on camera flash and my Nikon SB 700 as my off camera flash using the Y622N and YN622-TN. Please what are the necessary steps to set this up.

Appreciate the tips. Good breakout. I'm always surprised with KZbin videos on photography that the 'author' does not have the lighting figured out, i.e. the most critical part of photography. For example the effectiveness of the video was degraded with the shots of the 622c-TX screen due to the glare of the lighting. Add to that the moving around of the transmitter. Perhaps have the 622c-TX fixed and test the lighting out before. As I said great points but for me the production issues took away from an otherwise excellent instructional video.

I have a 622c-tx in hotshot of 5dmkiii. I have two 622c's on 430exii canon speed lights. Maybe its not possible to do what I want so I need some help...it seems to me if both of my 622c's are set to c1 and group A that they would both adjust to whatever I adjust group A to on the flash controller in the hotshoe. However, only one trigger is adjusting on the speed light. The other speed light will not adjust. Do I have to have them in separate groups? Seems like if somebody had 10 flashes they wanted to use and wanted 3 of them to be same power they could group them all in A. Am I wrong? Please help, thanks!

Attach 2 RF603 on 2 strobe lights, can I fire them all at the same time when I take a picture? And does my YN685 has to be on manual mode? Is there a procedure for making the communication between flashes and TX's work? I am having reliability problems. I have a Yongnuo 565EX, a Canon 580 EX II and a Canon 600 RT. Often, one or the other flash won't work. Most often the Yongnuo flash won't work. Do you need for example,..... to hook up and turn on the trigger before the flash, then turn on the TX, then the camera ....that type of procedure? Does it make any difference the order?
@tpaynephoto9 жыл бұрын
***** make sure that your 600ex-rt isn't set to radio/master etc.. because that could cause interference with the radio frequency. The most important thing is, always make sure you have good batteries in the triggers. They are extremely sensitive to low powered batteries and you will quite often get a misfire etc when the batteries are low. Also, try resetting the trigger by holding down the buttons and powering it on when you do so. keep holding the buttons and the led light on the back will blink red/green once it goes to a solid color it is ready to go again. let me know if that helps.

So I am going to buy a yongnuo 685 flash and the 622 tx (comes together as a kit) . The 622 Tx will command the 685 flash. I know it will not make adjustments on the secondary flash that is on my old RF603 trigger.......I just want to know if it will trigger it......do you know?.....or in otherwords.....is the 622 tx commander compatible with the RF603? (they are both yongnuo as you may know).

The non highspeed sync flash will work at over 1/250th - all the way up to 1/8,000th. I'd take the trigger off that non HSS flashgun and set it to S1 which is a built-in optical trigger on my YN560. Meanwhile my Canon 580EXll (one of your YN622 triggered flashguns in manual in high speed sync and set to full power. The very first section of flash fires the non HSS flash which is fairly slow compared to the 1/8,00th shutter and is almost finished going through it's normal full power blast as the shutter is closing. Line of sight is needed for outdoors but in a room there is no trouble at all. Full power manual on the HSS flash as there is a lot of light required (8,000 divide by 250 equals 32 tiny blips of light as the narrow gap of the shutter travels across the sensor). And full power on the non HSS flash so it fires long enough for the whole sensor to be exposed.

The Nikon 622N and 622N-TX works with the D750. One thing though, is that the hot shoe on the yongnuo TX unit doesn't seem to seat correctly everytime on the D750. Wiggle it to confirm a proper connection before tightening down. You will know when it's connected, because it will show on your flashes that are hooked up to the 622n transceivers. I had this issue and my flashes wouldn't fire by shutter, but would fire by the test button. Took 3 hours to finally figure out what the problem was.

Kev Hildebrandt yes, you can as long as you have a 622 attached to the 600. they use different radio frequency so the built in radio on the 600 isn't the same as the 622 radio frequency.

I have these arriving today, with the Yongnuo 685 flashes (xmitters included in flash). One thing I like about these videos, is that I always see some Hog Stuff in the back ground. Love my Razorbacks. I think we have the same desk as well. Great video, very informative.

Brilliant video mate - all killer - no filler. I know f**k all about flash and stills photography, though I used to be a clapper loader and focus puller in 35 and S16 film, but in 11 minutes you've given me all the information I was looking for. Nice one.

Great video, I have question on the Nikon version, I just bought 2 of YB622N II and one YN622N-TX, the On/Off switch on "YB622N II " also has 603-RX and 622 position on it, I have googled it and they point to communication, can you explain what they are and how they are used on these devices?
@tpaynephoto6 жыл бұрын
1AtlantaKid the 603rx setting simply allows you to use the 622nii or 622cii with the 560-tx controller. It operates on the rf603 trigger frequency..

Is there a light meter that will trigger Yongnuo 622C's? I'm looking at Sekonic but it appears they will only trigger Pocket Wizards.

The receivers say support for 622 and 560-RX. Will the receiver work in HSS with a canon 430exII?

Im trying to find out whether an off camera flash kit such as this one will work on a camera that does not have HSS setting. So I guess Im asking whether the TX controller or any trigger for that matter communicates with the cameras shutter speed to allow for fast flash use if the camera has no HSS mode? Thanks!

+George Georgopoulos I use the 622 HSS with my 5d classic to fire speedlites and monolights. The HSS function works from the pc sync port. My canon flash works from the hotshoe in HSS mode.

Thank you for an excellent tutorial. I do have a couple of questions about high speed sync which I have not found answers to, anywhere. The other way to set high speed sync is to push the Mode button until "SS" appears, which stands for "Super Sync." In this mode, how do we control the flash power? Is this a TTL mode? If we have two flashes, how can we change the rations of the two? The other question is: Pressing and holding on the Sync button brings up settings for Super Sync. There are three numbers there. What do they do? 3.0 seems to make the flash darker than 0.5 on the bottom set of numbers there. I find these two items very confusing. Sure hope you can help. Thank you!
@BobFaulkner7 жыл бұрын
Actually, I just got my 622-TX controller out. It is made for Nikon cameras. The third button over on the top row is labeled "AF/SS". Pressing it quickly turns the red focus-assist beams on and off. Pressing and holding it brings up three rows of items: top row, "01"; middle row, "SS"; bottom row, "2.1". The bottom number can be adjusted from 0.1 to 3.0 and there is an "AU" mode for Automatic. Do you have any idea what this menu does? Thank you!

So I have a question! What's the difference between getting the Yongnuo 622-tx and 622 triggers vs getting the YN-E3-RT Wireless Transmitter? FYI I currently have 2 Yongnuo YN600ex-rt wireless Master Speedlites and the Yongnuo 622-tx Transmitter and 622 Triggers set. They work fine, just wanted to know if the wireless would be more suitable because you don't need the triggers orrrrr?

I MA NOT SURE BUT I THINK YOU CANT SHOOT AT HSS TO 1/8000 AND YUO CANT USE TTL MODE EITHER

I am new to speedlights and trying to figure out what all I need to buy in order to run two speedlight, one on and one off the camera. If I use a 568 EX II on the camera as a master, do I still need to attach a 622 to it or other 568s to get them to sync?
@tpaynephoto9 жыл бұрын
Jeffrey Armstrong the 568exii can be used as a master flash. the capabilities require line of sight so that you they can 'see' each other. I prefer radio transmission, which is why I use the 622/622-tx. They work even if there are obstacles blocking the speedlights..to me, the reliability is key.. I would recommend getting a pair of 622c triggers..www.tpaynephotography.com/yongnuo-products

tpaynephoto Thanks! Is it possible to mix the 568 EX II with other speedlights, such as a Neewer?

Jeffrey Armstrong Yes, you can mix them with other ttl capable speedlights if you want to.

I bought the yn622c tx controller along with the two yn622c triggers and two 568ex II's specifically for HSS and it doesnt work at all when I have the controller on my camera. I made sure that the controller has the hss symbol, the flash has the hss symbol, and that my camera is set to hss (which it automatically does). When I use one of the yn622c triggers as a transmitter it works fine. Any thoughts as to why hss wont work with the controller attached?

Duckmister1129 That is very strange, what camera are you using?

I am using a Canon T4i. Its extremely frustrating because I first thought it was the flashes but upon further troubleshooting, found out that it was the controller. Im so confused.

Try resetting it. Also, try resetting the receivers. You can update the firmware by downloading it from hkyongnuo.com

How do you set up 4 or more flashes?
@tpaynephoto9 жыл бұрын
You will need a trigger for each flash. This system only allows 3 groups. A,B,C. But you can have multiple units in each group.

tpaynephoto will this work with HSS?
@tpaynephoto9 жыл бұрын
yes it will, as long as your camera and your speedlights support it. I have triggered regularly at 1/8000. I have triggered Alien Bees at 1/4000, I have heard of others triggering them at 1/8000, but I no longer own them so I can not attest to that. I now use the YN 300w studio strobes.

juilian, Yes. you can use the 622's to trigger low voltage strobes such as Alien Bees, Einsteins etc.. DO NOT USE them with high voltage items like the Speedotron Brown line etc... I burned out a few of them trying to trigger pack lights like that..
@jsfoto248 жыл бұрын
+tpaynephoto How do you setup the 622 to fire the Alien Bees? Do you have video on that?
@jjohngolden52738 жыл бұрын
just hook the 622 to the back of it using the AB sync cord, all ready to go, and you can actually super sync the AB strobe up to 1/4000 sec, not HSS but SS worked like a charm
@javierherrera94508 жыл бұрын
Sounds easy but IT IS NOT WORKING FOR ME!!! Aaarrgghhh hahaha I'm so frustrated and I have no idea what is up! I have a 622C-TX on my cameras hot shoe and another one hooked up to my AB Einstein via a PC sync cord and it is NOT firing it! I tried using a 2.5mm to 3.5mm cable to hook up the 622tx to the AB and it will actually fire it but about 1 second AFTER my shutter goes off, waaay out of sync! Any ideas friends?
