How do you get rid of, fix, and prevent lifting from the free edge?
@youngnailsinc2 жыл бұрын
When the nail grows out and the free edge isn't getting moisture from the nail bed any longer, it gets dehydrated and loses it's flexibility. With wear and tear, it can start to pull away. Make sure your clients are using cuticle oil on a regular basis (at least once/twice daily) to help keep the nails hydrated and flexible.
@angelamower62642 жыл бұрын

Question: does this method apply for pink gel as well? I’ve trying to look for a way to getting rid of lifting the best I can, but there are certain lifts that doesn’t matter what bit I use or how much I dwell on it, it doesn’t come out. Should I just get rid of that whole area instead?

all lifting has to be removed before a fill, but yes gel would be done in the same way.

Any tips for lifting (both avoiding, and removal of) at the free edge with builder gel? Similar concept to this video still? I'm very much just a diy-er and this was my first attempt at bg (used one in a bottle). I followed all the prep tips I've seen but i think it might just be my nails, they're very thin/flimsy which is why i was trying the bg (and i guess i may not have roughed them up enough first, trying to avoid thinning them further). Should i just not be using bg on damaged nails? I'd previously been using dip powder and keeping a clear dip overlay on them but i found it difficult to fill and i couldn't get peel base to work over it (despite trying so many things) so figured I'd try bg instead, i really feel like they need something on them at all times to give them strength or they'll just bend 😬
@upinthewoods Жыл бұрын
I realize this is an older vid and this was so long, sorry, not really expecting an answer but figured I'd ask.
@youngnailsinc Жыл бұрын
Lifting at the free edge can be a result of excess usage of the nails, which can pull the nail away from the product or from the natural nail getting dehydrated. As the nail grows past the nail bed, it doesn't get the moisture from the bed below and can dry out. As it dries out, it can begin to curl and peel away from the product. You can use the Under the Nail Bit to remove separated nail, but also using cuticle oil on a regular basis (several times a day, especially if your hands are in water or washing a lot) to keep them hydrated and flexible. You can also try doing your overlays with Fiber Gel as this works great over thin or damaged nails and has more flexibility than a hard gel over a natural nail. www.youngnails.com/products/under-the-nail-cleaner-carbide-3-32

Quick question.. have ya'll ever used a product called Line Be Gone? (I'm pretty sure that's the correct name) it's in a small brown bottle. One of the other nail techs at work swears by it, I've used it a few times recently to blend tips and around lifting. I dont know a lot about the product but it seems to reset the acrylic around lifting but for a short time makes it soft enough for easy removal especially with an efile.. I've also found that applied over a gel top coat that it seems to soften it for easy removal so you don't have to soak or file very much.. thoughts from the Gurus would be appreciated lol xx

Sam Hugh I'd never heard of it before until she showed me at work recently but it seems to do it's job really well on acrylic. I like how it also seems to make removing gel top coat easier. Do you know if it's a safe product to use long term? I've been doing nails for 19+yrs and had never heard of it here in Australia before but I like it. Hopefully that's not a bad thing lol

@RunningWaddles7 жыл бұрын
samcraftyhands my daughter has the same issue. So here's how i fixed it. 1st, soak the nails in pure acetone for 5-15 minutes. Depending on her nails....my daughter's nail can't hold acrylic for nothing, so we had to soak hers for 15minutes, just to make sure they're good n dehydrated. Her nails will produce it's natural oil rather quickly, after being etched n prepped. So yea,15 minute soak worked. Then, i use No Lift brand of primer, monomer and powder. That works for her. Hope that helps hun :)

I really do like a lot of your videos and you are great at teaching techniques but could you please refrain from saying things like you "came up with a new style" of something or you're "the first to do" something when its clear to anyone who watches other videos on KZbin that this just isn't true. This is a safety bit and while it may be the safety bit that your company makes it is one of hundreds of different safety bits out there with the smooth rounded top and they have been around awhile. It's like using the glue on tips as a form just like dual forms work and stating that you just invented that method. I'm not trying too be rude OR mean it's just very very frustrating to me and apparently others who also commented on the tip as a form video that you can't just say "our bit " instead of "the bit that I invented" or "how to use tips like dual forms" instead of "this brand new method I just came up with". It just doesn't help people to trust you if you claim things that aren't so and as a business owner and educator you need people to trust you and believe everything that you claim so its not good for you when you say things that just aren't correct . I Hope that you can see what I mean and that you make sure and adjust your statements from now on to reflect the exact nature of your videos and their content and make sure you include things you used in a slightly different manner than they were intended but that they were designed, invented, or created by someone else and/ or awhile ago. Thank you so much.
@traceyreierson51667 жыл бұрын
Heather W. I get where your coming from Heather..but I think you may have misunderstood our message. Young Nails doesn’t claim that they came up with using tips to form out, just that it’s a new technique we are doing with our product that we thought would be helpful to people who struggle with sculpting. As far as the Safety Bit Young Nails actually does have the patent on it. Hope that helps.
@heatherwelberry17 жыл бұрын
Tracey Reierson ok..i get that.. but I'm not the only person who misunderstood the message because it was definitely not portrayed as a "new idea for our product" it was portrayed as a brand new idea in the nail world that no one has thought of before and he spent months working out how to do it and if he meant anything different than that then why didn't he even mention the fact that dual forms exist so this is just like that only slightly different and doesn't require the buying of forms? Why didn't he compare and contrast ? No , not buying that he wasn't trying to say this was his brand new idea and I actually really liked you guys before you just insulted our intelligence by trying to say he meant this was just a new technique for "his product". If you make a mistake when you say something is your idea, out of excitement for a new to you technique or just because you are proud of the way you do something yourself, and people call you on it, just admit it. Dont make it worse by trying to say you meant something you didn't. We aren't that simple. Here's an example of that... you are completely right about the safety bit it was your creation and you do hold the patent. Bravo for that creation.. it has given so many people the confidence to use an e file. See how that works? I am not unwilling to admit when I said something incorrect. And trying to say he simply meant that was a brand new idea for only his product is incorrect and you know it. You can't do that on KZbin. You guys know that. We pay better attention than that. He completely tried to own that idea and should just admit the mistake. Like I did.
@duzzie18176 жыл бұрын
Heather W. Are you always this upset over nothing? Tbh I never thought to use dual forms the way they do. So to me, young nails did invent a technique :/ also, maybe do some research before making claims that a company didn't invent products when they have a patent on it. You got caught with your foot in your mouth and now you're back peddling.
