So this is a hexatonic scale repeated 6 frets apart, with the second position using the inverse of the first position, (1/3/4 instead of 1/2/4)

If I play A harmonic minor in the key of D, that would be phyrygian dominant correct since A is the 5th of D correct?

In D harmonic minor A is the Phrygian.

In the first pattern you ditch g# and that is not the 3rd?!

And g# is the characteristic note of a harmonic minor. So if you ditch it, there is no harmonic minor character left, right? Can you explain this??

@@roberics6720 Still no. Eb dim is Eb E F# G A Bb C Db. I am showing you D# E F#A B C. I am showing you a hexatonic pattern that is all the notes of E Harmonic minor without the flat 3rd. Watch the video again.

@@leonbrownmusic You're right. I always assumed Yngwie played the diminished descending scale in the beginning of the solo to I'll See the Light Tonight. But I guess he played the scale you're showing!
